This is the guy IMO.

I could watch these guys be interviewed all the time. I love how they are so nonchalant, flippant and matter of fact all at the same time. It's like they could tell you that they were gonna chop off your balls and then kill you, and you would be like...What......frick yeah.

No disrespect to the SEALs, but if it had been Delta who got Bin Laden, none of them would have ever come forward. It's a whole different mindset. The only Delta guy to ever write a book about the Unit has been ostracized by the community.

You don't think this guy will get that treatment?

Why do some call him "Osama" and others "Usama"?
Posted on 11/12/14 at 5:11 am to tWildcat
I believe because there is no true English translation for it? I believe the FBI and gov't refer to him as Usama, while most of the mass public spells it Osama.

Quote {The top admiral and enlisted man in the U.S. Navy’s SEAL force are warning its members not to disclose classified information for publicity or cash, as two SEAL veterans who participated in the raid that killed al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden remain under scrutiny for allegedly doing so.
The SEAL leaders said in a letter to all SEALs published on Friday that a critical part of the SEAL ethos is, “I do not advertise the nature of my work, nor seek recognition for my actions.” It is a lifelong commitment, both during and after military service, said Rear Adm. Brian L. Losey, commander of Naval Special Warfare Command, and Force Master Chief Michael L. Magaraci.
“Violators of our Ethos are neither teammates in good standing, nor Teammates who represent Naval Special Warfare,” Losey and Magaraci said in the letter, which Naval Special Warfare Command confirmed as legitimate. “We do not abide willful or selfish disregard for our core values in return for public notoriety and financial gain, which only diminishes otherwise honorable service, courage and sacrifice.”
The SEAL leaders added that they will “actively seek judicial consequence” for any SEAL who discloses classified information and puts families or future operations at risk.} Quote
What a hypocrite bunch of Obama a-lickers! Obama splashed Osama's assignation all over the World and took credit for it...before bin Laden's body was room temperature.
Note how the SEAL being questioned harkens back to GW with his "freedom will be defended" remark. The real warriors up there know that Obama is ideologically opposed to Freedom (Constitutional version) and a closet (read liar) Socialist.
The Brass is caught between a rock and a hard place, in remaining true to Military protocol and Chain of Command; if they dump that because of Obama...it all goes to hell. And ironically, that may well end up being what it takes to root out the Commie thugs who plan of collapsing the current systems from within. The soldiers are smart...they realize this; so does the Freedom lovers in this Nation...per the last election.
Obama is a worse curse on this Nation than Osama was. Done far more damage. Towers can be rebuilt...National (ideological/racial) unity, a hell of a lot harder to do.
Col. Allen West at the top would straighten this crap out.

I have mixed emotions about this deal. On the one hand, he took an oath (and signed a non-disclosure agreement) not to mention his involvement in this raid.
On the other hand, I watched it last night, and learned nothing new. We pretty much know all of this via releases from the government (that turned into movies).
However, one of the main tenets of the SEAL community, which I have immense respect for, is being broken by one of their own (so they cannot blame the administration for their disclosures).
But, in the WWII days, heroes that performed heroic acts that resulted in high medals and honors were quite literally paraded around the country by the government and ordered to speak on their heroic acts as a recruitment tool - some of them becoming wealthy in the process...so why should this guy be any different?
As an aside, it seemed you could look at him last night and tell that even in his own mind, he was questioning whether or not he was making the right decision in doing what he is doing.
I have no ill will towards the guy, but I do have some mixed emotions on his coming out like this.

My personal opinion is that I wish he had not come forward to identify himself. I believe saying "the SEALS got him" is a better way to process the killing.
I'm not saying he's doing something wrong but I do not need to know the individual who happened to be in place to take the shot when it was a team who put themselves on the line in order to place him in that position.

Me too, Doc. You just know that the guy is conflicted...that bunch is all-in when it come to duty and honor.
That said, I suspect that those who pointed out the positives and influenced the man in breaking the rules in order to present a particular POV - which I suspect is political - realized that in Obama's case...it's gloves off. He's breaking the rules, and just like the Islamists who use our Freedom...to undermine/destroy it...there is no better choice at the moment.
I give him a pass. And you can bet that there is a lot more to this than meets the casual observer eye.

I do think it is surreal to see this guy and find out his background.
- He is a SEAL, which means he made it through SEAL training, which means he is a badass right out of the gate;
- He is a SEAL sniper, which has a huge washout rate and is incredibly difficult (read Red Circle);
- He was a DEVGRU (ST6) member - which is allegedly only available if you are offered a tryout and the washout rate is allegedly 50% (meaning the best SEALs are picked to try out and only 50% of those guys pass).
You look at the guy and he looks like a life insurance salesman.
Fascinating to me.

Yep, and like I said earlier the way he communicates is so nonchalantly matter of fact.

I was mixed on it. Now, I just think he is in the wrong. I don't care what Obama, et al have done to ruin this country. I don't care that this country is all Reality TV and Look at Me. It doesn't mean he gets a free pass. It was a team effort. He spoke an oath. He should be a team member.
He is also complaining about a 20 year rule that was clear from the beginning. No one made him join the military. No one told him he may get a free pass at 16 years.

IMHO, that's what this dust-up is all about. If the two guys had said Barry isn't a puss, and hadn't drawn inspiration from Bu$hitler, errbody would be fine with them. In "No Easy Day," Bissonette made several unflattering references about the Choom-in-Chief, and that's what has everybody excited. Nobody's given Marcus Lattrell any grief over his book about his classified mission.
