It's right past the curve to left in twin bridges, past walden point apts. right before the first long straightaway. I new the guy that got shot fairly well. Neither were very experienced, but the guy who shot him was an 18 yo kid. Supposedly only been hunting a couple of times. They were tracking a deer they had shot.

Saw this earlier. Just plain stupid. I always have my orange on for this reason.

I'm all for getting out there and having a good time but damn... it looks like ignorance is what got this guy killed. Frustrating to say the least. Prayers to the family. That 18 year old kid will never be the same.

It's been a while since we've had a missing hunter uphere, last was drunk and fell down a coal mine shaft, almost every time before that though was murder

What are some of the rumors involving foul play?

Yeah. Know John from high school. Had seen him fairly often the past couple years. He had worked for a friend of mine until recently. My friends pretty tore up. They grew up together.

Gotcha sorry for your loss. His older brother and I graduated together...

I don't think I even knew he had a brother. We hadn't hung out since high school. Just kinda shot the shite when we saw each other.

How does one shoot and kill another hunter thinking he is a deer. I truly have no concept of how this happens
There was an article in F&S 15 or so years ago about this. There were many stories of guys seeing "deer" that turned out to be someone or something else. It talked about inexperience hunters getting excited and even veterans being too confident in what they were seeing. The mind can sometimes play tricks on you when you want to believe your are seeing a deer.
One story was about a guy hunting a logging road and his buddy was hunting in the same area. Right at last light he saw something walking down the road and was 100% it was a deer in his scope and at the last moment he held off from shooting it, "it" turned out to be his buddy.
This article stuck with me over the years and now I use a light and wear orange no matter where I am hunting.

Back when I was doing taxidermy, I mounted a rainbow trout for a man whose son had killed another hunter during muzzleloader season here. The victim was wearing brown Carrhart coveralls with no blaze orange of any kind. Best I remember, the shooter was never convicted of any crime. It was marked up as an "accident". I didn't agree with that at all. An accident is when a meteor falls out of the sky and hits you in the head. It was carelessness on the shooter and the victim. Victim was survived by his wife and two small kids.

First thing my dad taught me was use a damn light, even if you can see.
Too many assholes letting their kids hunt alone when they have absolutely no business doing so.

I make sure my kids have lights and even if they are hunting with me they have their own.
