Why do you think Miles and his staff has trouble developing QBs?

This position has normally been a weak link for years during Miles' tenure.

Mett developed nicely
Jennings is still pretty freaking young, so come back to me if Jennings is starting next year and still looks the same
You only really have JJ/Lee to make this case

I'm not ready to throw in the towel on Jennings or Harris, but if you are, go right ahead friend.

Because it is the hardest thing to do. That's why there aren't very many good quarterbacks. Everyone thought Sumlin was great at it after one game, now we all know Kenneth Hill sucks. Why does Sumlin suck at developing quarterbacks? Because its hard.

75/25 run to pass ratio will not do much to help a qb gain confidence.

It's more that they have done a shitty job recruiting. Sure, JJ, Lee, Rettig, etc. have been highly rated, but that's highly rated by recruiting services. They don't know WTF they're talking about. QBs are especially hard to rate, too.
Until we got Harris, Lee and JJ were the only QBs with talent. However, one was a pussy and the other was a moron. That was really just bad breaks.
AJ is developing just fine. He is not very talented - only average. If we're forced to use AJ next year, and I predict we will for the first half of the season, he'll be much improved over this year.

People say this but he only had one productive year while at LSU and he was here for three years I believe. I think one year he sat on the bench, his second year was shitty, and he blossomed his senior year.

I think the current staff is well suited to develop QBs and has already demonstrated this with Mett and Jennings.

Jamarcus and Mett?
Lets not bail on the qbs we have in our system. Lets not forget Flynn and Mauck were seniors and had been in the system a long time. Give it time. I have always maintained that it is more to do with the line than with the QB's. You either recruit the larger smash mouth style run blockers or you do the more agile smaller pass blockers. Our qb's have very little time to look around and assess the field. This is why most of college football teams try to focus their offense heavy one way or another. When you become great is when you luck into a special talent at QB that excels at both. Remember Peyton Manning and Eli didn't win a national championship. Neither did Brees or any other elite qb for that matter. Fans get too caught up in why isn't our the best. These kids were playing high school not long ago, give it time.

what are people talking about when they mean "develop" QBs?
because Mett certainly "developed" from 2012 to 2013

This is actually true because all other QBs under Miles have been at least serviceable. The JJ/Lee situation I believe was more Miles being a bit stubborn in his initial assessment of the more talented QB 3 years prior to 2011.

Conveniently leaving out he "blossomed" into the most prolific quarterback in school history. That's pretty significant that they took a guy who was "shitty" and made him the best in school history, no?

You just effectively argued against your initial point. Nice.

People say this because in his 2nd year at LSU he showed improvement over the course of the season (see 2012 Alabama game) and in his 3rd and final year here he put it all together. 1 productive year in 3 years still means he developed.

I think the heart of the problem is the evaluation process while these kids are still in high school. Think of all the successful college quarterbacks who were basically unknown in high school who turned out to be great college QB's.

Cause they only practice the toss dive at practice. The other pass plays you see during the games are made up on a dry erase board while being called.

It took three years to get him there though So, are you satisfied to have shitty QB play every 3 years or so and wait until the QB is a senior for him to have a decent season?
