Jennings is Effective and Improving

For LSU to win, it must have an effective rushing offense.
For LSU to have an effective rushing offense, it must have an effective passing offense.
For LSU, an effective passing offense means that it keeps extra players out of the box. Without extra players in the box, defenses have difficulty stopping LSU's run game.
LSU's first two plays of the Ole Miss game were runs for two yards each resulting in 3rd down and 6. LSU's next two plays were passes. The first pass was a 32 yard pass completion to convert the third down. The second pass was an 11 yard completion to Dural, also a first down.
LSUs first play of the second half was a 22 yard completion to Quinn. Jennings made the right read and threw the ball early.
Completions like these examples are enough to keep the defense from putting extra defenders in the box.
Moreover, Jennings is improving to the point where Cameron feels comfortable throwing passes over the middle. Jennings' fifth pass attempt was a perfectly thrown 40 yard completion down the middle of the field to Fournette. Jennings also completed a long pass near the hash mark to Quinn in the fourth quarter.
Posters who say that LSU can't win with Jennings as the starter are cearly wrong. LSU has only lost one game with Jennings as the starter.
Posters who say that Jennings is not an effective QB are wrong. Jennings does not have to complete 100% of his passes to be effective; he merely needs to complete enough passes to keep the defense from stacking the box.
LSU routed Kentucky with only 7 completions. LSU routed Ole Miss everywhere but on the scoreboard with just 8 completions.
Finally, posters who say that Jennings is not an efficient QB have to recognize that Jennings' passer rating for 2014 is still higher than Mett's passer rating for 2012.
Jennings is not perfect, far from it. Jennings is not prolific, not even close. However, Jennings is effective, and Jennings is improving.

He's a quality player and continually does the things the coaches ask him to do.

Youth usually improves.
The country is seeing and LSU team approve in front of their eyes.
I like us in all the games moving forward.

He is hitting some passes that he was unable to earlier in the season and that is the most important improvement right now. It's allowing us to call some more plays and keep the defense off balanced enough for us to move the ball. If he can ever get over the 50% accuracy hump, there is no reason to suspect he can't keep getting better. I still believe Harris ends up being the much better QB, but nothing wrong with having 2 guys capable of winning games for us.

I'm sorry I just don't see him as effective. At least not anymore than any other college QB can be effective. Our running game is our offense. Jennings isn't keeping anyone balanced. When you have 8 completions and 2 interceptions you are not improving. ULM and Sam Houston State are the only games he has had over 50% completion and he threw a pick in the ULM game. He is improving on his PA fake is about the only improvement I see. Difference between him and Harris seems to be the ability to get the right play called and run on the field at this point.

50% passing with 150yds is not effective, its called a massive oline, great running backs and a badass defense....Brandon Harris could have done the same damn thing last night, say hike turn around and give the ball to the RB...he still cant throw to save his life, or this team coming from behind... albeit one lucky arse throw on a DB that should have never let anyone behind him on deep qtrs coverage...

Hes not effective at all. Very minimal improvement

No. No he's not.
8/16 for 142 yds, 1 TD and 2 INT is not "effective".
Sorry

Also add the fact he doesn't make reads and he will continue to be about as good as he is now

Jennings is still throwing bad passes. He was fortunate that an Ole Miss player drop one of his passes for a pick 6. If Ole Miss goes up by 11, we probably lose the game.

If we lost to Ole Miss everyone would be talking about how Jennings hasn't improved ("cost us the game") and the offense is too crippled with him at QB, but we won so I get it, we need to sunshine pump that he had 8 completions in the entire game and ignore the 2 bad INTs. The throws he had to make for the most part were very safe and basic.
Props to him for making the big throw in the end but the coaches put that in the absolute perfect spot. He still had a pretty poor game and our running game was the only reason we ended up winning. I mean we ran the ball 91 yards on that final drive and Jennings throws a 3 yard TD pass to a wide open TE.
Jennings looks like the same QB to me as he did against Wisconsin. He is very inaccurate, is a 1 read and if it isn't there, panic QB. He can throw a nice deep ball but locks into only 1 guy for it and defenses are keying in on that now. He can make a nice play here and there, but what QB cant? I really hope Harris sticks around and fights for the job because if not we're looking at 2 more years of Jordan Jefferson v2.0. It's quite clear where we can improve the most from this year to next and there's really no question about it.

He's getting better, but he floated that pass to Quinn that was picked off.
If he takes less air off it and puts a little more oomph on it, it's a completion.

No, he's not.
He has only one read and when it's not there he goes outside the pocket. Granted he was successful on a few roll outs to Quinn but overall the play breaks down when his primary receiver is covered.

You really just can't help yourself, can you?

Based on what? His stats are not going up hill.. If you consider 8 completions a game with 2 picks better then what the hell was he prior?

yea I mean if he just threw the ball harder and more accurately every time it would be a completion..

I would consider an effective paasing game as about 225 ytds and 18/30 with no INTs

quote:Jennings is making reads. Both of his completions to Quinn were excellent reads and excellent throws.
Also add the fact he doesn't make reads
Jennings has been making good reads all year. There bave been numerous posts supported by gifs that SHOW Jennings making reads. Hell, he is even looking off safetys.
This bullshite about Jennings constantly locking onto receivers is just that; it's bullshite.
His interception on the pass to Dural was a good read but an unfortunate result.
His interception on the pass to Quinn was a bad throw based on an inaccurate read. But QBs make bad reads. It happens.
quote:His short passes have improved dramatically. His movement in and around the pcoket have improved. His decision making has improved. He throws the ball away better. He's definitely improving.
he will continue to be about as good as he is now

You effort to prop up mediocre QB play is unparalleled.
