Pretty much true of all viruses. Anti-viral medication treatment, generally, focus on inhibiting viral colony development, buying your own immune system time to fight it. At the same time, other treatment for viruses include boosting your immune system towards the same goal - facilitating the immune system's fight against the virus.
All viral infections are "cured" in this way - meaning the host's immune system, boosted or otherwise, defeats the viral infection.
ETA: One of the partiuclar challenges with HIV, for example, is that it is fairly slow acting and specifically targets the immune system.
