Places to eat? There is Sammys, Mike Anderson's, and Parrains if you want that cajun feel for a restaurant. Not everyone would recommend these places, but to me they are good places for people coming in wanting a little bit of a Louisiana feel.
Pre-game activities, you could always go to college game day. If you are looking for a place to drink, Chimes is right off campus and easy to walk to. They have a great beer selection and also would be a good place to eat.
As far as tailgating, usually people are kind and will let you grab a bite. I'm actually doing my first/only tailgate because I have so much family coming by, and age will range from ole miss freshman to grandparents, but more than welcome to stop by.
Bunch of free parking, here is a map that tells you where to go.

Levee lot is the easiest parking lot to get out of after the game if you need to get on the interstate.

Parrain's and Sammy's (crowded) are good, but don't go to Mike Anderson's. It's awful for the price. Chimes, Acme, and parrain's are way better.

I actually like Mike Andersons a good bit, but that might be because their house dressing is fricking fantastic.

DON'T eat or go to walkons. That place is trash all around.

Meh. Walkons is great for what it is. I think someone who has never been to an LSU game should go.
But where I would really suggest for food on Friday night is Roberto's in St. Gabriel

It's not my cup of tea either, but I hear they have a great game day atmosphere.

Maybe for a local but we're talking about a game-day experience here. Eat somewhere around campus like the Chimes or Walk-Ons. The Chimes is better but both are good enough and you also get the excitement of the Game day/Weekend atmosphere.
Not hating on Roberto's the food there is very very good and I never miss an opportunity to eat there.

You can possibly meat her this weekend. She's a Milf.
FIFY, sounds very intriguing.
How's her sammich-making skills?
Seriously, wear your Georgia Tech colors, folks will not mind and it will help break the ice as you walk around the tailgaters. Be cool and LSU folks will invite you in to the area. Just remember, the password is "Go to Hell, Ole Miss."

Any suggestions for someone making their first trip?
Standard things to see:
two hours before KO, Tigers march down Victory Hill.
The Golden Band from TigerLand march down Victory Hill about 20 - 30 min later
Pregame starts 15:00 before KO. The best in college football.

from the other thread:
if you wait until noon to head to campus, you will be disappointed. 10a latest. traffic will be heavy and parking will be an adventure. bring money for parking.
the tailgating is the best in the country but, lsu has an incredible campus and gameday routine. walk around as much as you can. it's beautiful. watch the band come down the hill. it is awesome and will get you amped up for the game. check on gameday for the timeline. should be about 1.5 hours before gametime. people get seats along the street an hour beforehand just to see it. if you get to campus early enough, you will have plenty of time to walk around to tailgates for hospitality and also walk around to see campus and the band coming down the hill.
i can't stress this enough, get to your seats to see pregame. best in cfb. starts 15 mins before gametime. the lines to get in will be LONG. if you're trying to catch pregame, you will stand in line at least 15 mins so prepare accordingly.
you can't go wrong with any of these places to eat:
parrain's
juban's
mike Anderson's
of course chimes has the college feel. I think portico's is interesting and it's not far from campus.

. Perfect game to be making your first visit. I'm jealous. Wish I could be there. If the tigers come to pkay it should be a pretty awesome experience. Make sure you wear your Ga Tech gear and you'll be welcomed with open arms by many tiger tail gates. They live to entertain fans from other teams .
This is true. A guy from Cali posted on here and got invited to the tailgate next to ours.

GT represent.
Listen to these guys. They know what's up. And stick around and post in the GT game threads on the More Sports Board.

Go to the Lod Cook Hotel on campus for Saturday morning breakfast - great spread; make sure to wear some Old Mess gear!

Where ya staying JordanB? Someone here may help you with maneuvering to/around campus; including me. Also, contrary to what another poster wrote, please don't wear Ole Piss gear.

Good stuff guys. Thanks for all of the information. I'm looking forward to the weekend.
As a Georgia Tech fan, I hope we never have to face y'all again. Still have nightmares of Les Miles calling a fake punt up 30 points in the Chick-Fil-A bowl lol.

Looks like we're staying at the Siegen inn. Won't be wearing Ole Miss gear! I was hoping to get an LSU shirt once I get there.

Some advice about getting around Baton Rouge:
-Avoid everything north of Florida Blvd.
-Avoid almost everything south of Florida Blvd.

Go from Siegen to Highland and take Highland into campus. More scenic than taking I-10.
