Pop music geared towards 14 year olds has been around since the 60s. It's not new.

Bringing down the big record companies gave risse to the indie movement. More independent record labels and bands have more incentive to go on tour. Music today is better than it was twenty years ago. The 90s and early 00s were rough

quote:You listen to jambands and indie
The digital age gives you more access to music more than ever. I don't see how 'it ain't looking good'. I feel like live acts have also stepped up their game because they know they can't make shite off studio recordings.
You're way off on the distant edges of the music industry

I think yall are missing my point
Have you turned on a radio recently? That wasn't jazz/oldies/indie/jambands/etc?

I agree, but it just seems that now it has consumed and generally dominates every considerable genre.
There's teen trash in country, rock, rap, pop, punk. indie, folk, etc.

All that folk-y rock Mumford and Sons shite
Thats considered indie
That's a result of the record companies finding a marketable audience segment
And it fricking blows

Every era of music has bad parts to it. You just don't hear about older ones because they have been recognized as crap and largely forgotten about.

Mumford and Sons
IMO, probably the worst, most cheesedick band of the 2010's

I feel like a lot of you are in serious denial about the state of the world we live in right now
Because if I keep going I'll start sounding like a crazy person I guess I'll just quit while I'm ahead on this argument

I mean if i had to choose between chelseas, mud/water, and the varsity every night for live music, id also be extremely pessimistic about the current state of the music industry

If you really think this hipster yodeling is the best music produced in the last 15 years, you need to get out more.

Taken a look around at the music industry lately?
quote:I'm clearly absolutely fricking crazy. You don't think people had to wade through filth back then too?
If people think the general output of music is as good now as it was when you had to drive to an album store and buy an album to hear music, they're absolutly fricking crazy
quote:there is a need/market for it; as there has been for decades. Luckily people are still delivering music to 14 year girls. That has nothing to do with the caliber of music for non-14-year-old-girls.
the creation of this entire industry of music created for 14 year old girls was made because

It's on life support and it ain't looking good
quote:Yep. Don't listen to it. Doesn't change the albums being made for dirt cheap, sold through itunes, shared on the internet, shared on satelitte radio, shared on small fm stations, etc.
