The most maddening single play of the game.

This will vary for many as there are many to choose from.
However, one single play stands out to me as the "symbol" for everything that his happening at the moment.
2nd quarter. Down 24-7. 8:27 on the clock. Facing 3rd and 2 from our own 26. LSU calls time out. LSU comes out in its typical goal line package, except that we are not on the goal line. Auburn sees this and commits all 11 defenders, 5 waterboys, and Bo Jackson to the box, licking their chops at what is sure to be a run up the middle. And lo and behold, they get their wish. Handoff Darrel Williams. Straight up the middle. Auburn defenders everywhere. No gain. Shocker. Who knew that play was coming? Well, besides the Auburn coaches and everyone in the stands not named Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, or Helen Keller
Everyone has their moment where reality slaps them hard in the face and they realize that things are amiss. Many had already had that moment...but I am stubborn. But that one play told me all I need to know about how fricked up our entire offensive concept is. Sorry I am late to the party

I remember telling my friend "I bet we go right up the middle"

You sure it wasn't the pass in the end zone to end the half instead of calling timeout beforehand?

Notice that Les Miles had the offensive play card in his hands at that time.

I remember a 3rd down early in the first half where I thought for sure we would throw.
Pitched it back for a run up the middle. Lost yardage.

Remember when we said we are setting up a toss play to Fournette?

This was a close second...but my body was still reacting to and absorbing the play I mentioned in the OP. That play was my epiphany moment.

My son, who is 12, throughout the game, kept calling the plays before we even snapped the ball. I think that he was about 80% correct on his guesses. At one point, he looked at me and said, "This is what we did to that other middle school on Thursday: We stacked the box because we knew what they were running."

that was the play where it looked like Les mouthed into his headset "gotta pass" afterward, right?

I was actually at the game and didn't see it on TV. I have read what you are saying a couple of times on here since last night...he said that? Who the hell called the play?

I thought the QB draw on 3rd and 15 against blitz was pretty awful

there were a bunch of threads about it on the scoreboard immediately after. I noticed he said something, but couldn't tell and didn't rewind.

Our OLine has been so woefully ineffective this year, but you can't tell Miles anything...

Les Miles said it, but he said it with the expression like, "ah, I see it now. We got to pass there."
Quit blaming the OC's when everyone admits that Miles does absolutely nothing with the defense, but works with the offensive side of the ball. This has been the exact same philosophy since 2009, with three different coordinators. Cam Cameron NEVER ran the "toss g" before getting to LSU.

Me:
"Oh God, we're not running the toss dive on 3rd d... GOD DAMN IT!!!!!

Who should we blame - Les Miles or Cam Cameron - for that play?
Posted on 10/5/14 at 11:15 am to LSUGrad9295
This is dead wrong. Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Heller Keller have that extra sense and knew it was coming before anyone... Strike that. EVERYONE KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE CALLED 8 YEARS AGO. Great post though.

Do you really think Cameron even had that play in his playbook before he got to LSU? That is a Les Miles special. Probably learned it at Michigan.
