As always, everyone's going to get all butthurt, but I don't think what Jurgen said was even that insulting. If you're soft, maybe, but otherwise, I agree completely. I think Landon could have played at the highest level and been an elite player in the world. He chose not to, and that's okay. It's not an insult to insinuate that he could have done that, though. I believe it's a testament to his skill.

That doesn't discount what he's accomplished in this country. It doesn't discount a damn thing he's done, but it's completely okay for people to have differing opinions. It doesn't mean respect isn't there. People act like it's wrong to say Landon could have played at the highest level consistently as if it's an insult. It isn't. Very few people have the skill to be truly great at that level, and Landon showed flashes of it several times. A lot of us did want to see him grow in a better league, but instead, he chose to grow our league. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just stupid to act like it's offensive to say he could have competed against the best in the world every week and flourished in that environment.

It's fine to say that a few weeks after the game. Not when US Soccer is going out of its way to throw Donovan a sending off party and with the whole "should LD have made the WC" debate still going strong.

If you don't see how fricked up and tone-deaf that is on JK's part, then I'm sorry.

It may not be offensive on it's face, but it most certainly is very fricking offensive to say it to the press the day before his testimonial match with the USMNT.

Klinsmann should have shut his fat fricking mouth this week and let Landon have his farewell. Klinsmann won.

And honestly, it's another brick in the wall of the "Klinsmann can't stand Landon being the face of USA Soccer" narrative.

Just shut up, Klinsmann.

It is when Jurgy picked an MLS journeyman over him for Brasil.

No one gives a shite about what he actually said. The timing is inappropriate.
