Yak Fishing & Wind

Looking to take my 12' Pescador out to Cypremort Point on Sunday. Looks like the wind is expected to be in the low to mid teen mph. How much of an issue do you all think the wind will be? I am petty inexperienced, this is only my second time out. Any advice is appreciated.

No familiar with that area, but I wouldn't go far in that wind. And I'd stay in protected areas.

Where do you plan on fishing at the Point? If Shark Bayou you may have a tough time getting to/from your destination plus the water might be pretty choppy until you get into protected areas. If you're planning on fishing around the Cove you can put in by the fishing pier at the state park and would only have about a 100yd paddle. Unless of course you plan on getting an earlier start than 7am which means the state park wouldn't be open yet so you'd have to launch at the boat launch and paddle all the way to the cove. Which depending on wind direction, may or may not be a bitch.
In regards to anchoring just make sure you have a good anchor/marsh pole that can hold you well and you should be ok.

Stay out of the wind as much as possible or get a Cajun anchor or claw anchor with anchor trolley. Wind is the #1 enemy of kayak fishing. It always seems I'm paddling into a headwind on my way back to the launch after a long day fishing.

oddly enough, my best catches at Cypremort have come while trolling. I just put my rods in the rodholders and drag a swimbait along the bottom. With the wind you won't even have to paddle.

I don't use an anchor trolly, but they are nice when sticking position in the wind. You could fashion a cheapy one from the hardware isle @ lowesdepot on the fly.
pack light; only essential i.e. beer, gold spoon, the griz, vhf, stringer. I used to bring all sorts of crap and downsized over the years.
