So ultimately, we gave up Fernando Rodriguez and 2 years of Lowrie's services for Chris Carter, Brad Peacock, Max Stassi and Lowrie's return in 2015.

Crane will never spend money and Ludlow has no interest in improving the team.

so as of this point...
CF Fowler
2B Altuve
RF Springer
DH Carter
C Castro
1B Singleton
SS Lowrie
3B Dominguez
LF Marisnick
That's not a bad start. That's still relying on a lot of youth to reach their potential. If Singleton and Springer can fulfill their prospect hype thats a solid offense. Would like to see a better option than Marisnick/Grossman in left though.

I think 75-80 wins is possible if the starting rotation is close to what it was last year.
I think Obie will turn into a solid 3 spot. Hopefully, the switch stays on for Keuchel and Feldman will be Feldman. I don't like Peacock and Buchanan will be the long relief. Who could be the #5? I don't think Folty is ready.
My patience is wearing a little thin with Dominguez, but dude needs to perform or its time for him to go by mid season.

If the team improves again this year, IMO, the "plan" will be coming into fruition just as the FO and the people with a brain thought it would.
I bet Ryno and people like him hate that.

fwiw, I like Marisnick and I may be the only Astro fan that still likes RobbieG.
Now, if he starts 15 off like he did last year, then I promise, I'll jump off his bandwagon. Thing is, the OF is absolutely full. Who.comes out of Spring Training with a job at the ML club?
Grossman or Presley?
Singer
Fowler
Grossman
Marisnick
Presley
Hoes and Presley tradebait?

I'm a bit afraid of seeing a Lucas Harrell thing (though not quite as ugly) from DK and McHugh. Neither of them had ever pitched to the level of success that they had in 2014. My expectation would be that they regress from their stellar numbers last season, but how much is the question.
I think the final OF (likely LF) spot is still open. Grossman, Marisnick, Presley, Hoes are all options. I see it either RG or JM's spot up for grabs though. 2 years in a row Grossman has had a strong 2nd half after falling on his face and being demoted in the first half. And I'm really not a big Marisnick fan. I'd really love to see Domingo Santana claim a spot. That could push Fowler to LF (where he's better suited) and Springer to center. I just don't know if Santana can overcome the strikeouts.

Marisnick and Moran will be solid contributors next year.
I can't wait for them to green-light Moran.

BTW when Appel comes up, we may have the smartest team in baseball and could also be the Houston Area Stanford alumni chapter
Hinch- Stanford graduate
Appel- Stanford graduate
Castro- Stanford graduate
Lowrie- Stanford graduate

Love the Lowrie signing!
One more hitter and one more SP and I will be extremely happy

Yep Lowrie signing is a great stop gap guy to have until Correa is ready.

Love the Lowrie move. Versatility to play around the infield too if somebody goes down. If he can stay healthy it could be a big time steal

I really don't think Moran sees the field till 16. They're going to give Dominguez all the time in the world to fail.
Posted on 12/15/14 at 4:24 pm to Prominentwon
I'm getting pretty tired of Dominguez honestly. I'm hoping they can hit 75 wins this year. I expect some regression from the rotation but hopefully guys like fowler and springer can stay healthy and the bullpen upgrades should be good for at least a few wins

I hope you are right. But I think we see Moran by Aug 1.

I don't think we'll see a Harrell thing out of these two guys. Harrell was a cancer while these two guys seem to be extremely humble. Plus Harrell's good season really wasn't that great, but compared to everyone else on that shite team it was fantastic. I still like Grossman. High on base guy. You need that on a team that strikes out as much as we do. Marisnick impressed me last year too. Great defender and his offense was decent too.

The best part about this signing is it feels like a big to Porter.

Astros have reached a settlement with Nix
