Yes, and in life, there are consequences for actions taken. One of them is, if you live in a place with an HOA and you paint your house lime green, you have to deal with the consequences.
Again, it sounds like you live in a nice neighborhood. If you don't want to deal with an HOA, then don't live in a place that has one. End of discussion.
