Through experiences with friends in the past, all I can say is don't expect the first time to stick and work. It's very rare that it does. There will be relapses until he decides he wants to stop or something hits him hard and wakes him up. Good luck but just be prepared
Very true. Don't let on that you expect relapses, but be prepared. It can be frustrating as hell. The draw of the med is strong. The biggest thing is to treat any underlying factors that led to it. Most of the times, addiction is driven by self medication for various undiagnosed or untreated issues.

Take care.
