re: What will be the Rant response if Harris plays and stinks it up?

Einsteins definition of insanity is "Trying the same thing over and over but expecting different results." Lets not be assinine or insane here. At some point when Jennings is struggling, if he just does not have it on that given day or at that given time (like Saturday), is it really that bad to try out Harris? Logical fans shouldnt roast Harris for coming in and making mistakes, same way they shouldnt crucify Jennings for a bad outing versus a good defense. The question is, will Jennings grow from this? I hope so, but if not and he gives the same lackluster performance going forward, there is no wrong in trying out Harris. I would at least like to see us go down swinging than to sit there and have a pitty party.
ETA: Starting Harris against New Mexico St would be our best bet. Just to get him comfortable with everything. But once we get into the meat of the SEC schedule, I do think Jennings will be the starter and I do not disagree with that. But if the offense flutters like it did Saturday, it does no harm at that point playing Harris. The kid earned a shot to get in on some meaningful snaps last Saturday.

"Well, at least we tried."

Honestly, I wouldn't care if Harris came in and threw 20 INTs as long as he was being aggressive and not playing just not to lose.
I always equate it to golf which, admittedly, may be stupid. If I'm going to hit the ball in the shite on a par 5, I'm going to do it with a 3 wood in my hand going for the green in 2. If I hit the ball in the shite with a 7 iron in my hand while trying to lay up I'm going to be pretty pissed.

Glad I'm not the only one who has done this!

try something else! anything! miles doesn't think theres any problems with the scheme though and that is the real problem

I think the change is necessary, in my opinion Jennings is not comfortable in certain situations, his biggest fault is shorty to medium passes.
But again we have a coach who is not willing to change, the power I is a dead give away.

you guys all have missed the point. miles is telling Jennings to protect the ball. he is forcing that mindset on Jennings. hence, Jennings
will hold the ball until he is sure the wr is open (over the middle) and tuck the ball when the 2nd option is open. he is hesitant and not natural most of the time. harris comes in and the game is over (one way or the other) and is not under the same restrictions as Jennings. clearly, harris is the better talent but Jennings would be better if he was in a better situation.
mett had obj, landry and hill, and solid ol. Jennings doesn't have any of that.

If Jennings is healthy he starts. This is not a year we make a run at a championship so why not keep him in there to allow the game to slow down? Harris has a couple more years to learn the system and get stronger before he takes over. Starting Harris this year may do the same as what happened to JLee. Thrown to the wolves too early and did not develop correctly.

I agree with this. Miles is telling Jennings to protect the ball.

But not this. Jennings misses open receivers because he stares down is first read and if that isn't open he panics. You can still protect the ball and go through progressions.

does any of you guys even care that the Defense allowed 34 points. I loved seeing Harris light them up but they also had just about gave up and thought it was over. This team has a lot of growing to do, Offense and Defense.
Also They had went to a prevent defense and was not pressuring harris near as much. I believe harris is a better qb, but I don't want him to be put in before he is ready and destroy his confidence

Of course, but There are other thread for this. His thread is about Jennings/harris

I expect Harris to stink it up. It's the only way to learn anything.
His only limiting factor is experience. Once he gets that I don't see what stops him.
Jennings has many more limiting factors.

I'll probably hope they give Fournette 30 carries a game

Yet Harris is still better than Jennings at this point. He knows how to throw to more than one reciever

I've come to your side of thinking. Jenning was just awful this weekend. Harris can't possibly be worse.

Harris will make more plays and more mistakes than Jennings.
Jennings, I think, is a better "game manager." I think Miles knew this and thought he could count on the defense to keep the games low scoring. That's obviously not the case this season so I'd rather the play maker out there, knowing full and well he's going to make mistakes that likely cost us a game or two. Problem is, Jennings not making mistakes will also cost us a game or two... or three...
This is what I agree with. You may get a couple of 2 and 3 turnover games, and maybe a 4 turnover game, but I'd bet Harris could gain 300 total yards and 3 TDs a game alone. Even when he makes mistakes, he makes up for them.
If we are still running the same offense, I want Harris on those designed runs (Jennings is too slow). If play is covered, I want Harris to be taking off. If we are throwing screens, quick slants, etc, I want Harris to throw those. That pass where he hit Dural I think, on the rght, all the way from the opposite hash was a Mett pass.
While he may make more mistakes, in literally the same exact offense, he will be way more effective.
