What?
How did you get burned on Halo 3 and Skyrim?

I can agree with the first Fable.
I remember reading reviews about it saying OMG this will CHANGE the gaming landscape.
You could finish the game in an afternoon.

I played halo 3 for probably 2 to 4 years just for custom games

ve been burned before, Perfect Dark Zero, Halo 3, Skyrim, Fable, and the list goes on.
Let me guess, Donkey Kong and Zelda ruined your childhood; and you were disappointed by the lack of platforming in Mario Kart.

SO many straw men, so little time

Our contemporary lives are built around marketing - just about everything we want to own or do has been sold to us, overtly or not.
"Gaming" is just one of many industries that has grown exponentially in size and scope to the point that a video game brand's marketing budget can be as high as a quarter of a million dollars. When you consider that many American companies in general allocate around 5-10% of their annual revenue to marketing and advertising, you can expect the hype to become more and more pervasive.
Also consider that the sources people look to for information about new video games are typically shills for said games, pumping out a steady stream of tofu-bland, hardly-relevant-to-the-consumer articles about the minutiae of development.
Too bad many individuals only recognize pandering when it is directed at someone else.

I used to be in this camp. I used to buy games before carefully considering if the game was worthwhile. It's getting more and more obvious that the business side of game companies would love nothing more than to release the same game every year at full price, plus DLC.
I got burned on that with Borderlands 2 when I bought the DLC pass and they put a few minor DLC in and made some juicy non pass DLC as a gotcha. I'm not going to forget that unfortunate decision.*
* it's been a while I might misremember this DLC issue.

They did both with their DLC but the season pass had a lot of content. It had everything I cared for.

You serious? Genius idea really.. they create the architecture and let their passionate player base improve it in areas that they want it improved.

Why is disagreeing with the mainstream making me a troll?
