Wooden Skiff Repair - paging fishfighter

Thought about putting this in the pirogue thread, but didn't wanna hijack it...this is a wooden skiff built by my great uncle. Very sentimental to my dad, but in very rough shape as you can see. There any hope for renovating it? How hard would it be for us to undertake? Would also pay to have someone do it so my old man can take her back on Tangipahoa River. Thanks OB

Sounds like a good way for fish to make a few bucks to supplement his disability income and for you to get a quality repair job done...win-win situation, if you ask me....

I'll bring beverages and vittles.
All jokes aside, fish is the person to talk to on this matter. He'll know what to do or know someone that does.

That's what I figured. Would love to be able to put this thing on the water again.

It can happen. Time and money cures all.

Nobody else on the OB knows of an old timer that does wooden boat work? You boys are slipping...

From what I can see the necessary repairs are all on the left gunnel and the bow.
With the exception of the stern of the boat the remainder appears to have been build the exact same way as fish's pirogues. You can go to that thread and see how those were made and should be able to piece it back together. For the side panel that appears to be busted you will need to either replace the entire side or patch from the inside. The patch will not look as clean as the replacement but would be a hell of a lot easier.

AS BP stated above. You are looking at replacing the crack side and a new bow stem most likely be need. One could "skin" the outside of that cracked side, maybe a option. But to really see if it can be repaired, I would need to do a full inspection.
By the way, nice lake skiff. If only it could tell it's life stories.

I think uncle got drunk and fell out of it, and it hit someone's boat shed.
I may trailer it to the pirogue build and you can give me an assessment
