D-line seem undisciplined to anyone?

This will be a touch long and contain a lot of scheme references so apologies in advance.
Idk if this is a brick Haley issue or what but I've noticed a few things watching LSU this year and last. If you watch the film, the ends rush upfield every play. Rarely do they ever squeeze down blocks which gets our OLB's blocked pretty consistently. The tackles don't seem to do it much either and they don't get down on double teams which hangs our MLB's out to dry. They stand up and get washed on a lot of those plays. It makes it tough for our LB's to scrape down the LOS and make plays for no gain.
Also it seems like they struggle with gap integrity. On the sweep to Gordon a few plays before the long TD by the WR speed sweep, hunter got a base block and he was lined up on the outside shoulder of the tackle. He should have outside contain but instead stuck his head inside so when Gordon bounced he couldn't make the play.
It just seems to me that LSU lately has played NFL ball on the line which is just get up the field and I think it hurts our run D and LB play. There doesn't seem to be much technique in our D line
Anyone else noticed this?

I played in a 3-4 scheme last season on the d-line where all the lineman did was hold gaps and double teams so linebackers could make all of the plays.
Now for a 4-3 isn't it supposed to be sort of the opposite where d lineman are expected to make plays?

Haha. Funny, I'm currently watching "Scary Movie."

Not exactly. It can be designed that way which LSU's defense is designed to do. Unfortunately for it to work you need elite LB play. I played in a 4-3 and typically the D line spent time squeezing down blocks and taking out pullers. It allows you to get a linebacker, who should be the best tacklers on your team, to be in the hole waiting on the tailback.

I noticed. It's been like this for two years. Montgomery and Edwards were last DE's to squeeze. Lb's don't scrape well either. Those things should go hand-in-hand.
I can't figure our if DLine scheme is gap control. Our DT's don't penetrate and turn themselves sideways a lot. That should free up Lb's. It's odd.

It's so frustrating. They turn their shoulders and get washed a lot. The linebackers can't scrape because nobody squeezes the OT's and OG's. Our linebackers constantly have to shed blocks edited even seeing the ball carrier. It's gotta be frustrating.

That guy was massively under rated and underappreciated

I might have noticed a slight change in the second half. The DTs split wider and pinched on several plays. The DEs held their position. This allowed the LBs to fill holes.

They did a better job of it in the 2nd half but it still wasn't fundamentally sound.

Since TCU, they have consistently played this way on D. I'm guessing it's the scheme. Hard to know if it's wrong, when I don't know what they are doing.

Better d line play = better lb play which = better defensive play.
We never improved last season.
Anxious to see if this years any different.... Didn't get off to the best start.
