Never hunted deer...how disheartening is it to have a deer in your sights but not having a killshot and its bolts? I would imagine that has to suck bad.

i have never missed a buck thank goodness, missed a couple doe on separte hunts trying to shoot too far 300ish yards.. didnt bother me a whole lot. But i cant imagine missing a buck, especially on a shot i should make. I have lost doe before after trailing them hrs, it sucks majorly

It sucks. Especially when your drawn back with a bow on big nuts, heart thumping in your ears, and he hangs up about 2ft from an opening. A twitch of a tail and bam he's gone. Happened to me last year. Wanted to puke.

Yes it sucks bad. It also sucks when he is setup to where you could get the shot but you cant get yourself into position to take the shot. Or he sneaks up on you and is watching you and you cant move, then he bounces off with the flag a flyin.

I just usually take sound shots, as many as possible.
you get some, you lose some.

Yup, it sucks out loud.
However, taking a good shot is part of being an ethical person.
Sometimes you gotta let em walk.
That's why its called huntin and not killin.

With a rifle it's pretty hard to not have a decent shot on a deer, regardless of the angle.
If it's a nice deer I'll go for the texas heartshot before I watch it run off. Cue the haters.

Ive passed on deer that all i had was an unethical shot. It is hard, but it is not worth injuring them and never finding them. My older brother shot (at) two good bucks last year that we never found. He gets the shakes pretty bad

THIS!
I had spend several weekends waiting on this large 8. He was there every dang day on camera that I wasn't, then the bastage shows up underneath me after I doze off.... Then promptly ran off.

I've been fortunate enough to always have a clean shot even if it's thru a small gap in the bushes....I just hate when that little vine or limb gets in your arrow path....

I had a 370+ 6x6 elk 45 yards broadside with a small tree right in the way of his front shoulder. Never got a shot.

It usually is not a problem if I have someone with me holding the light, but if I am by myself it can be challenging to hold the light with one hand and the gun with the other

Twice had what would have been my best buck within 15 yards and couldn't get a good shot. It ducks but it happens.

Just about as bad as having a huge one about 50 yards broad side, scope cross hairs lined up, squeeze trigger & SNAP (Forgot to load gun)
