It's pretty lawless, I don't think anyone would try and stop you from getting your ISIS killing on
Posted on 8/19/14 at 2:36 pm to goldennugget
We're bombing them as we speak. Hopefully we get a little more aggressive about killing them, from the air anyway.

Do you suggest we go after every hard core militant group in the world?
Posted on 8/19/14 at 2:51 pm to goldennugget
Probably the same reason we can't continue to drain our resources while playing world policemen. Where do you draw the line. Our planes are killing them which is more than can be said for most other NATO laughable forces.

Sorry, I just don't care enough about Iraqis to send our citizens there to fight on their behalf.
I'm just done with that until they pose a real threat to us.
Once they are a real threat, we should wage war the old fashioned way and stop trying to build them schools and shite.

Because we funded them (meaning various Sunni militia groups under various names, including ISIL/ISIS, in Syria. Remember Sen McWar photo-op with these types. I think we even trained some in Jordan in 2012/13) and they got their arse handed to them by Syrian Army and Hezbollah. They regrouped in Northern Iraq recently going with the new moniker ISIS when ISIL is more appropriate since the Levant stretches from the sea to the Tigris and Euphrates in Iraq.
It's ALIVE.....now we need to spend more $$ to kill Frankenstein?

Because Obama declared the Iraq War to be over.
Mission Accomplished!

Worthy representatives of the 'religion of love.' They have now killed an American citizen. Will the commander in chief do anything bolder to show them that you don't mess with the US?!?! Highly doubt it.

Give it twenty years and it will be happening in a place like Ferguson.

It's definitely a fricked up group, no doubt. One of the few times I agree with you here

By any measure, ISIS is now a near-term threat to the US. Just recently, ISIS members
allegedly tweeted images from Chicago & the White House, and there are reports that ISIS operatives are returning to their home countries in Europe and Asia to establish local cells.
The best way to combat these guys is to first wage a campaign similar in scope to the early phase of the Afghan War, where CIA Officers and Special Operations units imbedded with local fighters to identify enemy positions and call in air strikes aplenty (I really wish we hadn't retired the Daisy Cutter). I think we already are doing this to some degree, but we should expand the scope to target more ISIS positions in Iraq. I also wouldn't be adverse to using JSOC units to launch kill/capture missions against certain ISIS leaders. We've had a similar mission scope in The Horn of Africa for many years and it seems to have been effective at suppressing the East African Al Qaeda affiliates.
We also should use as many of our signals intelligence resources as possible to track individual ISIS members (these dumbasses are all over social media so they shouldn't be too hard to find), then work with partners in foreign intelligence and law enforcement services to grab these thugs. We don't have to throw them in Gitmo or CIA black sites (though I have no issue with that). I'm sure the Jords, Egyptians, and others would be more than happy to "accommodate" ISIS members.

now now, that's not very inclusive of you. We value cultural diversity around here, mister.
