I'd just make do with my Ww2 vintage M-1 carbine and the 30 rd bannanas I have.

So if you are in Ferguson and are trying to protect your home or business...
Would you want an AR and would you want to be limited to magazines with less than 10 rounds? It doesn't look like the police are coming to help you...
A good insurance policy beats all.

Plus with the insurance policy you can take the money and run from that shite hole.

different answers for home or business. For home-Tactical 12 gauge in hands, pistols on hips for the front door, one family member on roof with with Rem 700, .308 with low light scope

I wouldn't have just one. My AR or my Ak would be in hand. My 870 very close by. G19 on my side and my 38 on my other side. That is if I was put into this situation or Ny situation to protect my property and family from oncoming thugs.
It's obvious to not wait on the police for help

Great. So if you lose the looters will be even more heavily armed. Good job!

I agree.
If you have decent insurance its not worth risking your life to protect a business.
The home on the other hand is a different thing.

Same can be said for homeowners insurance. I'd imagine most business owners have more money tied up in their business as opposed to their home.
I'd say they are equally important of protection from riffraff.

Seriously? Not worried about IF I lose. Worried about putting all I got into protecting myself, my family, and my property.
I guess you would just open and hold the door open for them so no one gets hurt right?

Hey I thought we didn't need weapons because the police could protect us?
Serious I would put concertina wire up around my house. Minimum 10ft high. Leave space 10ft with land mines and another setup with concertina wire. In this space put pit bulls and add another wrap around the house or business of concertina wire with sandbag levee 10 ft high.
Then add m60 to front tower and m60 rear tower.
Have 4 m224 motars around the house then it would feel like living in Baton Rouge.
The best thing to do like someone said is put a rebel flag on the door and hope you have good homeowners insurance or business insurance. Who would want to come back to a town where businesses or peoples homes will have a huge risk of being looted.

Insurance is great and that is what I would do, but you still have to get away safely, I was once in a car surrounded by a angry mob that wanted the car, but we were armed and once that fact was made known the road cleared.

Good insurance is nice and you'd probably be fully compensated for your losses. But you bet your arse you'd pay for it when they raise your premium the next term. Insurance companies aren't stupid, you're paying for the loss one way or another. If you don't let them in, your premiums don't have to go up.

"good insurance" is the caveat. some policies disqualify damages due to "civil unrest"
