I'm just trying to not assume the family/community was standing up for someone with a known past of committing crimes. Also would fit a blatant theft at a convenient store and complete disregard for cameras catching you then not trying to hide the theft in broad daylight. Drunk or high IMO.

Truth. Been saying this for a while.

Why are we talking like a trial is inevitable? Look at how much of the original story has already been debunked. If the initial narrative continues to fall apart, I don't understand why a trial will even be necessary.

Yea, the chief was a like a deer in headlights. The tox screen, ballistics and autopsy will be vetted by multiple agencies though so there is going to be an answer one way or another in my opinion. Thats two completely different stories that should be easily corroborated one way or another to prove one side is lying.

It wasn't necessary for Zimmerman either but it was the only way to satisfy the mob. People will protest until he is charged. Guaranteed.

The narrative completely fell apart with Zimmerman, it still went to trial, and people were wondering why he got acquitted when the evidence that he was being railroaded was out there. (The degree of murder he got charged with was clear over-charging. They MIGHT have gotten some form of manslaughter conviction but not a 2nd degree murder IIRC)
I was having to explain to my wife what really happened because she'd only been reading the bullshite on Yahoo / HuffPo and on Facebook and, thus, was shocked that a murderer got off.

It will go to a grand jury period. There is no way that it wont, especially to be transparent and to head off civic unrest.

This whole story flipped. I'm sure CNN is pissed.
All 3 cable news networks are still stokin' the fire and fannin' the flames right now. They're fighting for viewers, and the concept of responsibility be damned. Take away the television cameras and the crowds dissipate and the talking heads have to actually go back to reporting on events that affect the country and the world.
Chris Hayes, doing his show from the streets of Ferguson last night, embarrassed himself beyond belief in trying to make a non-situation into a news-breaking-on-my-show moment. You could see the disappointment on his face and hear it in his voice when what he thought was "something big happening" turned out to be two cops going to the assistance of someone in the crowd who fell ill.
Not that there's any actual NEWS to report on ...

yeah but they didn't have any sweet pictures of deranged officer and sweet holister wearing 12 year old to instantly sell.
I think we all learned a valuable lesson here
Missouri sucks

we still don't have anything for this story to turn either way...god damn, this isn't news worthy if not for the riots

I agree, seems like folks are gonna have to wait for the forensic evidence. The stories are so different that its going to expose the truth fairly clearly I suspect.

I made up my mind not to visit the St. Louis area when I saw Chevy Chase's "Vacation".

If the cop turns out innocent I expect the looters to return the stolen merchandise and pay for damages

If he was shot in the back, we might have some legs.
If he wasnt, damn this looks bad on "the community"

East St. Louis =/= St. Louis. Or even Missouri.
