Going to be there week after next. Going to have my father and father-in-law with me. The in-law hasn't done any fishing in a long time, so I'd love to be able to put him on some fish.
Also, any tips for bass? My dad knows a guy that has a camp up there and said top water by the lily pads early and late. I'll rig up a Carolina rig. Any other tips? I'll be near the state park and I'm only bringing my kayak.

You chose the better time of year to go. I know this time of year isn't the best for fishing, but I have to try when I have the opportunity. Can't always fish when I would prefer.

Look for the bass ganged up where a slough or a creek meets the channel.
Try a white spinner bait, La. shad Bandit (200 series), a blue and white Baby N and a blue and chrome Rattlecrap.
My place is south of the St. Park in the next big bend. If you hear the LSU game on the radio blasting across the water, come get a beer and sumpin to eat.
And good luck.

As for white perch, look for the guys fishing on the channel. They could steer you in the right direction.
I have heard Electric Chicken is one of the colors they use.
Good luck and Watermelon Candy Brushhogs texas rigged may be productive.
Hope yall tear em up.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm headed back home the day before. Gonna be there that whole week before kickoff!

So I noticed there's a creek that enters the lake from the west, would the area circled in green be a good place to start? Area circled in red is the park. Where I'll be staying.

I'll just say fish at the lighted piers, at night

We have usually had success close to the channel when bass fishing. It is well marked. The west side should be productive. The bait fish will be schooling in balls. Watch for them along the edges of the grass beds near the channel.
Check La. Sportsman. Greg Terzia writes for them and I have seen him in the area. You may get some good intel. there.

Seriously bro! Thank you! I've done a lot of interwebz searching and it's hard to find reports on this lake.
ETA: I'm gonna grab a good map of the lake when I get there. One that shows the creek channels and topography.

Be careful near the channels out there in a yak. Lots of bass boats run Mach 4 in them.

Another question. I was reading that LDWF built some artificial reefs along some of the channels. One is right by the park according to the map. Have you ever fished any of these? Do they hold a lot of sac a lait?

Sorry but I do not know. We fish farther up stream. However, I would sure fish it first thing.
