Are we really planning/hoping to target a big money SF in 2015?

I'm not sure I see a viable big money target considering our lack of trade assets. Assuming no Gordon via opt out or trade, and cutting all of our scrubs we could get to about $11 million in cap space if the cap rises to $67 million as expected. You can get to about $13.5 if you dump Rivers too. But even if we had all of that money, who would we spend it on?
2015 FA SFs
DeMarre Carroll
Jeff Green (Player Option)
Jimmy Butler (RFA out of price range)
Mike Dunleavy
Jae Crowder (RFA)
Draymond Green (RFA)
Khris Middleton (RFA)
Chase Buddinger (Player Option)
Tobias Harris (RFA)
Thaddeus Young (Player Option)
Marcus Morris (RFA)
Markieff Morris (RFA)
Gerald Green
Dorell Wright
Rudy Gay (Likely out of price range)
Kawhi Leonard (RFA out of price range)
Danny Green
Potential Trade Targets
PJ Tucker
Wilson Chandler
Martell Webster
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Trevor Ariza (What are the odds of history repeating itself?)

The Morris twins should be taken off. They are stretch-4s.

Danny Green would be at the top my list of reasonable players. Knockdown 3 pt shooter that can defend. Should cost around 6-7 mil per yr.

I'd like Danny Green and Draymond Green. Basically split the 11m over two players. I'm not sure what Draymond would require, but I think 6 or 7m for Danny would be appropriate. If Draymond would be too expensive, I'd be fine with one of the Morris twins, along with Danny Green.
I really like Gerald Green, but he doesn't seem like a guy Monty would like.

Thad Young
He'll likely be traded this year... but if for some reason he doesnt, theres no way hes opting in
Wouldnt mind Middleton or Green either.

Isn't he more of an undersized 4?

Yea and he can't shoot. He wouldn't fit next to Tyreke.

danny green would be perfect, but he wont leave the spurs in my opinion. with regard to cutting salary, i do not believe (barring an incredible advance in his play) that the pels will pick up rivers' TO ($3,110,796) for 2015

I guess it depends on how the Spurs want to build their roster and how much they value Green at. They'll most likely have to give Leonard a max deal, they have Parker, Splitter, Diaw, and Mills under contract for next season. They may try to go after another higher end SG.

I think if we get one we will either do a S&T for one of those restricted FA's or we'll simply trade for one. All the more reason to hope Gordon has a huge year.

Actually, unless they have a deal in place that needs his space, I think it probably gets picked up. It's not that much money at all with the cap projection (4.6% of cap) and you retain his rights, which could be useful in trades.
He has shown flashes and if he continues improving at anything resembling a steady pace, he'll be worth picking up.

Danny Green is the exact type of player we've always signed that fricks us over. Plays on a great team as a roll player, goes off on the big stage in the playoffs, gets a contract based on those performances, proves that he is not that great when playing for us. See Ariza, Posey, etc.

This sounds about right. There are far worse players out there making a whole lot more money.

Posey was a terrible signing because of his age and being on the decline. Ariza didn't get good at 3s until the last 2 years. Basically they weren't good at things we needed them to be good at. Danny Green actually seems like a decent fit. He is good at the 3 and has played in the Spurs system long enough that I'd expect him to be decent enough at team defense. That's honestly all we need. My main concern with him is that just like everyone else on the roster besides Salmons, he's good at the wing 3 but not the corner 3. Someone needs to be proficient from the corner, either Ryno has to step up from there this season or whatever SF we bring in needs to be good from that spot.

Gerald Green? He shoots well from the corner. He shoots a ton more wing threes, but was good from the corner too.

Maybe, but I also shouldn't assume that whoever we get can't improve. Presumably if their role is to specialize in the corner 3, that's what they'll work on, but it's nice to see a proven fit in an obvious area of need like Salmons.

i believe that that is exactly what will happen
gordon 15.5
evans 10.7
holiday 11
anderson 8.5
davis 7
thats 52.7 plus add 12 (?) for asik and thats almost 65, for six players. add in whatever for a new SF, and they will need rivers' 3. again, only my opinion
