Has anyone else heard of this game?

Saw this article today and it looks amazing. Not supposed to come out until early 2015, but I doubt that judging by him only having 10 developers.
I've been considering putting down the money for a gaming PC and this may be what solidifies that decision

I wanna say that someone did a thread on this game already. But I can't say for sure because that would mean I'd have to use the search.

I'm pretty sure they're not looking to release the whole thing until late 2015 or early 2016. There's still a ton of work and development left for this game.
Having said that, I am a backer and the game is absolutely beautiful. It's still in early alpha, but the very core of the gameplay is pretty solid. There still needs to be a lot of work on the flight model, the UI, and definitely the controls, but they've gotten a lot of stuff right. The damage models and ship systems in this game are insane, and make for some pretty interesting emergent gameplay. Example, the cooling system is located physically on the ship and it gets blown off. Suddenly my guns are overheating super quick, which means I have to switch tactics. Or I have some thrusters blown off and suddenly my agile little ship is flying like a dump truck on ice skates.
It will be interesting to see how well they setup and blend their FPS portion of the game with the flight sim portion.

I've been watching this and I may pick it up when it comes out.
I've kinda backed off of early access and preordering though so hopefully they don't bone traditional buyers too much.

Look at Elite: Dangerous as well. It recently (last week) opened for public beta. You pay $75 and you get access to beta as well as the full game. I haven't played it but what I've seen on twitch, it looks good.

I am fully against the "pay more to help us fix the game in beta". What happened to the "pay less and help us fix the game in beta" concept?

It's safe to say people have heard about the gaming considering the amount of crowd funding it received
