What ended up happening?
One of the cops said they needed to make sure he was ok. I asked if any of them were vets and to no surprise all of them said no. I let him out and threw a dummy back into the bed of my truck. He jumped over the tailgate grabbed the dummy and got back in his kennel when I told him. They were satisfied with that.

My ex never questioned me about dogs once I broke hers from growling at people while it was eating in about 5 seconds.
I hate it when people let their dog think it's the boss.

Stupid broads. If I correct my dog and the wife says something, she's next in line for a quick attitude adjustment

After my wife seen our "ex pit" bow up on me... she leaves me alone.... I be damned if a dog is gona growl at me... as for jumping on the couch, a quick shot up side the head fixes that.

That's a fine dog. What's the Downshift method?

I have an American Bulldog as well, he's almost 10 years old and he received some very harsh discipline as a puppy. No matter how hard he got popped, he never whimpered, he never sulked, and hell, he never really gave any indication that he felt anything. The breed really is a bunch of knotheads.
He's the gentlest, most laid back dog I've ever owned. He let's my 3 year old niece climb all over him, pull his ears, and pull his tail. He doesn't jump on people and he isn't aggressive to other animals.
I believe that the firm hand I used when he was a puppy showed him where he stands in the hierarchy, and he's never forgotten it.
Tell the wife to suck it up.

Yeah, it's not a staffy. Staffies don't have red noses. It's a pit. There's nothing wrong with that.
