Freaking unbelievable. What does it take to get fired as a policeman these days?

Getting caught with a dead girl or a live boy.

This would be like me intentionally putting a bad design out that blew up and hurt/killed someone after another engineer told me not to do it and me keeping my job.

This is from the OP but its the first time I have heard of the case:

Magee also suggested Harris had some sort of weapon.
Is a 3,000 LB vehicle being driven wildly in close proximity to human beings not considered a weapon?? Just because is doesn't go "bang" doesn't mean it's not a weapon.

A "weapon" that the dipshit cop forced the guy into using.

Why they frick should the taxpayers foot the bill?

It will most likely be the City's liability insurance carrier footing the bill. The taxpayers may have to foot the bill if the incident causes a premium increase.

Family deserves to be paid.

Cop deserves some sort of discipline. Cleared of all wrongdoing is laughable.

Call a tow truck for the car.

Pretty certain that the City will be self insured up to a limit. That would be taxpayer money, and depending on the SIR, reinsurance would kick in after that.

Until officers can be held personally liable these incidents will only increase.

Did you just skip over the part where it said that Harris was directed by Magee to drive the vehicle despite having told Magee that he was drunk?

That's like a cop ordering me to pick up a gun, then shooting me cause I was an armed threat.

So cop asked drunk guy to move car. Drunk guy tells cop, "I'm drunk." Cop makes him move the car anyway then, when drunk guy drives like a drunk guy, cop shoots and kills him even after other cops tell shooting cop not to shoot. Are these the facts as you see them?

Never mind. I misread Dominique as Magee.

We had a cop shoot and kill a trainee while conducting a training exercise. Cop's still on the job.

You must have more info because this incident sounds all kind of f-ed up. Sounds like the guy was forced to get into his friends car after protesting that he was drunk to the police, something fricked up happened with the car, and he ends up dead after another officer specifically tells the shooting cop not to shoot.

edit: I can't believe I don't remember this incident in the news. Did it get no play?

They are. Where do you get your information? There is nothing that absolves cops from either criminal or civil charges. Most people don't sue cops because most cops are not terribly wealthy.

Yeah. Although the drunk guy managed not to hurt anyone and got killed, while the presumably sober officer killed the drunk guy and shot a bystander.

It's about time we had a police force to protect us from the police.

Exactly

What you gonna get from a cop? Garnish his huge salary?

Maybe is 5k equity in his trailer house?
