Was sad to see that Janice's narcoleptic boyfriend didn't hang around for long.

FTR the actress, Aida Turturro, is the cousin of Coen Brothers collaborator, and wonderful actor John Turturro.

She just had a brief appearance in John's movie Faded Gigolo. Her Rolling Stones tattoo didn't make an appearance. :(

Mad Men - for a historian or a person with a particular interest in the history of advertising - is a fine show, don't get me wrong - but it starts really, slowly and kind of plods along for a while. Not a GOAT candidate, by any stretch, but quality television, nonetheless.
Thats good to hear, I'm both into the 50s time period and advertising..

Season one can be dreadfully slow. Heck, one episode was all about going into Bert Cooper's office to look at a painting.
You can hate season 1 and still end up liking the show.
Starts to pick up mid season 2 and season 3 is where it all came together for me.

Greatest show of all time. I binge watched the first 4 seasons to catch up with 5. I can rewatch any season, any episode and enjoy it. I have many times.
I don't believe it's dated at all. Dated to me means a show that doesn't stand the test of time, not whether or not it's characters are using ancient technology. Who cares if Chrissy got a beeper in season 3? The more important thing is does season 3 still entertain you like it did when it first aired on HBO? If so then the show isn't dated. You know what's dated? Try watching full house reruns. Good lord.

I didn't mean dated in a negative way. It's my favorite show ever.

Ralphie is the most entertaining character of the series.
Spoiler alert:
I still think it was a mistake to have him whacked in season 4.
