Will be surf fishing in GI this weekend and Bay St Louis next weekend. Will hopefully be doing more this year and on.
What are some things that you'd need in the surf that you wouldn't on a boat?
Also, what should I be fishing with in BSL? Same bait Id be using in GI?

Chum bucket.
But seriously, the floating fish basket with the built in retractable pliers and little tackle box is pretty clutch.

Hey man, I'm sitting on the toilet and had to lean over to let a fart sneak out and hit enter. Back up off me.

Are you talking about wade fishing in the surf? or surf fishing? They are different games.
Wade fishing in the surf is just like fishing for specs, reds, etc... from a boat in the surf. Just make sure all of your stuff floats and is sealed well.
Traditional "Surf fishing" you'll need different equipment entirely.

Watch out for flesh eating bacteria.

Not really.
He edited to include the BSL/Grand Isle stuff.
Which is why my post now makes no sense

Ha, I read it after the edit and still thought he meant surf fishing like what you posted. Maybe I just assumed that because I saw your pictures at the same time.

Wade fishing, yes. What's the difference?
Answers like this is what I was looking for. Things I don't already have that aren't in my boat.
And as far as the bacteria goes, I have a fresh cut above my knee, but I'm not 75 and my immune system is top notch. That being said, I'm going to have it coated in liquid skin, and maybe even flex seal.

I think academy has those wade fishing belts. Holds a few small tackle boxes and I believe they even have a rod holder for when you're switching boats or taking off fish.
EDIT:
Yep. Looks like they have a bunch. If I were going wade fishing, these seem like a good value for $30.

And remember to shuffle your feet.

get one of them styrofoam rings with net. A whole lot easier to reel a trout over the float than it is to deal with a net.
