Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Thoughts with Spoilers; Fricking fantastic)

Just back a second ago. I thought it was great, especially the first half. The second half was a little generic, but there is so much that goes into the build up that it feels satisfying. It honestly feels Shakespearean. It is right up there with X-Men DoFP as my favorite movie of the year so far (they are very different movies) and in front of Capt America.
The Apes are certainly front and center and they make the movie what it is. They are fricking menacing and I would not want one bit to deal with them. The scene with the Gorilla guard made me really felt terrifying on behalf of the man.
There is a lot of CGI. The second half was more so, but honestly, 90% of the time, you couldn't tell. The apes look wonderful.
It's not as dark as an ending as I've seen suggested. Humans certainly aren't as bad off as they could be.
I wonder where they'll go from here. Jump ahead to the start of the original PotA? It'd be a shame to not get a continuation of Ceaser and and his family, but I don't know how much more of the story they can really add to the current setting.
I'll add more later. I saw the movie with my father. He didn't like it. He said it was OK. The most I got out of him was he didn't care for any of the characters, which I downright disagreed with and he said he couldn't explain it any further.

Damn nature, you scary

Really didn't like it. Couldn't emphasize with the apes and thought the movie was cliche as hell.

Just saw it. Very good overall. For a summer blockbuster it was fricking awesome.

Read the plot on wikipedia. Seems decent. I'll wait for it to come out at a local Redbox.

It was pretty good. 3.5 stars
I think it lost some steam when Caesar went down, he's definitely the main lead.
I thought there should have been more demise for the humans. So other colonies exist in the country? Thought this movie was about the eradication of the human race. So there is another movie coming to show that?

read the plot on Wiki. So he's calling for reinforcements. Um, dude, round up what few pilots are left, get some napalm, and firebomb the shite out of them. Quit trying to fight them on the ground where you are not used to a more three dimensional fight.

Did you try underlining them? Use a highlighter perhaps?

Not sure where you heard that. There hasn't been a PotA movie that didn't have humans in it. Eradicate the humans and you no longer have the PotA franchise.

I thought that the movie was great, but they could have done a little more. CGI was spotty in a shot or two, but it didn't diminish my enjoyment.
I put it up there with X-Men DoFP as one of the best of the year so far.
Spoilers:

I thought that the subplot of the humans trying to contact other pockets of people would result in a "shocking" Planet of the Apes twist. A Pierre Boulle type of ending where the trucks from the military base would pull up, and when the doors would open we would see that the trucks were driven by another group of intelligent apes.

Best option on here is the Bold, Italics, Underline combo, in ALL CAPS of course.
APES!!!

Yeah you're right. Meant to say the humans really getting knocked down. But when u think of it, they finally get the electricity back and the war breaks out. That may have been the humans last chance for an industrial society. At least in that area. So close but yet so far

The wipe them out thing was stupid. even at survival rate of 1 in 500, that still means 10-20 million humans, based on 5 billion people. Figure more deaths due to disease etc. But still. Concentrate as many as you can in a few areas. Already have the technical knowledge. Apes don't have that and won't on their own for some time. Not every group has a Ceasar who was raised and trained by humans. So take some time, get civilization going again, and then start wiping them out or reducing their population.

Ok. Let's break it down.
1/500. That's a .002. There are roughly 300,000,000 people living in this country. At a .002 survival rate, that means 600,000 survived the infection in the entire big arse country and people would be migrating south to warmer climates. Then you take in apocalyptic issues and it's even less. In the entire country.I can go on from there if need be. I found it very hard to believe that a group was coming south to help them in the movie.

Great movie. Serkis was amazing. Some of the best CGI I've ever seen. It is right up there with Xmen for best of this year. Someone out there has a passion for the Planet of the Apes franchise and showed it in this movie. The scenes with the apes were phenomenal. I agree that this movie was missing some human elements, but the ape scenes were done so fantastically. I've never had more compassion for a CGI character as I had for Caesar and his family. Very well done.
