If you want a good look at our broken health care system

visit the website "gofundme". 80-90% of the initiatives there are for medical bills. Obviously Obamacare is a net negative, but it's still sad how we get all theoretical and ideological when talking about it, as if the entire crisis is abstract, while in reality people are really hurting.

but the entire crisis is abstract. Any problem can be solved with the right combination of talking points. Liberty! Equality! Forward!

It is sad. A country this advanced and wealthy, with this much quality medical care, should not have anyone being financially ruined over a health issue.

but the entire crisis is abstract.
Problems are solved by actually helping the people with problems, not by winning philosophical arguments.

Implant not reduction.

A lot of it is personal responsibility. People do not prioritize health insurance in this country and fail to get insurance to cover them adequately.

You don't write health insurance policy because "people are hurting." No amount of money will ever change that reality.

Nor do they save money to cover expenses in case of an emergency.

Some of it, yes, but when the majority of people are getting health insurance through their employer, they're often at the employer's mercy for the plan they have.

Well we should force them to do that too.

that's what happens when state governors refuse to expand medicaid.

The Coverage Gap: Uninsured Poor Adults in States that Do Not Expand Medicaid
This is why there are so many uninsured adults in Louisiana still - Bobby Jindal refused to expand Medicaid (and they will STILL vote Republican, can you fricking believe it)?
