Better wide receiver in their prime: Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson?

I think Johnson is the more complete receiver. He's just a freakish athlete with prototype size and speed. He can hurt you over the middle or blow the top off.
Randy Moss was a different animal. He was the fastest guy in the league and caught everything. He simply couldn't be covered. If I had to choose one I'd take Moss. What say you and how close is it?

Eta: and I realize Mega is currently in his prime.

Gotta be randy moss. He actually made people think Dante culpepper was good.

Moss caught 17 touchdown passes as a rookie. In 2007, Moss had one of the GOAT WR seasons, so his one-year prime is hard to beat. I think Moss is the second greatest WR ever, but I am biased.

Moss came in right of way and put up some serious numbers with a future hall of famer playing across from him.
I mean you don't really see a WR come in and just dominate the way he did in his rookie year.
I'm sure Megatron's numbers and Moss's numbers are similar though. I mean if you're just counting the first 7 years of their careers. But I know Moss was a TD scoring machine so I know he would kill it in that category.
but yeah, Moss is my answer.
the speed to burn and he could go up and get almost effectively as CJ does.

Moss was as dominate as he wanted to be

Randy Moss.
Still cracks me up that he was somehow able to eclipse 1000 yards in 2005, no fricks given on anything, and Kerry Collins tossing him the rock.

I'll go megaton. He does everything very good to great. He really is the perfect receiver. Moss was amazing in his time, but was much more of a deep threat, one trick pony compared to Calvin. When you add in moss' off the field issues compared to mega's model behavior, it's a no brainer to me. You keep the head case, I'll take Johnson every single time.

ill take calvin as well. they are both awesome. calvin still has like 4 years of utter domination to go, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up. and i know i dont have to worry about any of the bullshite that i have to worry about with moss.

Except the question asked prime, so the answer is Moss. Calvin is the safer player to have long term, but that is not the question here.

how so?
they both caught a ton of passes in their prime.
do you think all of Moss's catches were from deep passes down the field?

moss' rookie year was 98 and in 2007 he had the TD record, so his perceived lack of longevity is mostly a product of playing on shitty teams with shitty qb's. at his best, you could argue that moss was more dangerous than jerry rice. the answer to the original question is randy moss.

Randy Moss. IMO he's the 2nd best WR of all time, behind Jerry Rice.
