@Marek76, Thanks for suggesting that I contact Dr. Darrat. Dr. Darrat just responded to my email. From his response, I am going to infer that they don't usually invite students that graduate during the Summer because the induction ceremonies only occur at the end of the Spring and Fall terms. He is going to issue an invite to me since I asked.
I guess the take home from my experience is to ask for an invite if you graduate in a term other than Spring or Fall, otherwise you may be overlooked.

I second that. Module 7 is going to require a lot of time, between the quiz, assessment, practice exam and then the final. Would appreciate and advice on the final.

Thanks for doing the legwork in researching this Sactown.
I guess we're 2nd class citizens for graduating in the summer.

Unless your employer is paying for it, don't waste your time or money. Like one from LaTech, an MBA from LSU-S is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Your statement contradicts itself. It’s not worth the paper it’s printed on but that changes if your employer is paying for it?

Anyone else in MKT 701 feeling burned out? I've been more or less working on the final discussion forum on and off for the past two days, and I just can't get into it. I've barely written 150 words and it's pretty low quality compared to my usual stuff.
Maybe taking two MKT classes together was too much, or maybe it was just the terrible way the class is scheduled and the frustrations with the tests, slow grading, etc. I don't want to blow off my last forum, but at the same time... I just can't seem to get myself to give a crap.

Extremely. I was going to do more studying for the exam but finally just said to hell with it, if I bomb I get a B but if I do Ok I’ll get an A in the class. Not like more studying will help with these exams anyway so I just winged it and did good enough to get a 90.5 in the class without the last 3 discussion post grades so I’m done, thankfully.

I just can't seem to get myself to give a crap [about MKT 701].
I'm about to take the exam soon. If I do really well, I'll keep my 'A' without needing to complete the final discussion question. If I do really poor, I'll have a 'B' and the discussion question won't be enough to bump me up to an 'A.' However, if I land right in the middle, I'll have to do the final discussion question to keep my 'A'.
I'm honestly rooting to do well or poor, but not right in the middle because I'm done with the class.

Haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one! You guys both have the right idea, I guess I'll just do a bit of review tonight and take the test. Maybe I'll blow off the final discussion question if I can finish with an A anyway.
ISDS 705 with Lin sucked and I felt it was so worthless, but at least it wasn't a massive load of busywork. I'm really thankful for MKT 705, because it's so well balanced in comparison with actual lectures (albeit mini ones) and actual application assignments... as in... writing assignments that are actually tied to the weekly topic. Still a lot of writing, but the tests and assignments are very evenly spread out.

I think this is a pretty common reaction when getting to the end of MKT 701 regardless of the instructor. Towards the end of my course with James over the summer, I was contemplating quitting the entire program. Glad I stuck with it.

Hello everyone. About to start on 10/22, read through most of this forum, and now looking for some advice. My options for this session are:
FIN 730 - Choi
ISDS 705 - Gibbs, Lin, or Darban
MADM 725 - O'Donnell
MADM 760 - Harrison
This is my first session and I have no idea what to expect, and I work full time. Currently I am enrolled in ISDS with Gibbs and FIN 730 with Choi. I am honestly looking for the best two classes to ease me into the program. I'd appreciate any insight as to what teachers and classes would be best to get me started and keep me from being overwhelmed right from the start. Thanks!

@tmandrell
From what I've read, 705 with Gibbs and Lin are both good and easy (I'm in with Gibbs starting 10/22).
I was trying to make a decision on MADM 760 between Harrison and McLaughlin and decided to go with McLaughlin based on reviews. I've read that Harrison is good as well though.

Dude Gibbs is awesome you will love that class. Don’t let that be reflective of the program for you though because most classes are much more difficult with instructors that are not as good.

@VinylTiger Which course book would you recommend for MADM 760 ? I'm also doing this class with Meeks starting 10/22).

@DieDaily I'm starting MADM 760 starting 10/22 so, would like to know if this is the final assignment at the end of the course or there is paper work after every chapter. Which text book is recommended for this course and is the test proctored or non-proctored ?

quote:I'm referring to the final paper for the course in that post. There is a good bit of writing each week but it's to answer several discussion questions and he didn't require you to use citations. In other words, you could just pull from personal experience if you wanted. The final paper, however, had to be in APA format.
would like to know if this is the final assignment at the end of the course or there is paper work after every chapter.
quote:He provided the textbook through downloadable PDF's and this was the other book: LINK. He also provided videos for us to watch each week. The weekly quizzes weren't proctored back when I took it, but I don't know if that's still the case. Most courses are proctored now.
Which text book is recommended for this course and is the test proctored or non-proctored ?

@DieDaily Thank you for the information.
Is the overall grade based on assignment (paper work), weekly quizzes and test ? Can you get all these informations on moodle for every course ?
I would appreciate if you could email me (sernt2018@yahoo.com) pdf of the textbook and other course related information.

Same boat w/ MKT 701. I'm having a really really hard time reading the text before taking the exam. I may just go through the PPTs tonight, then give the exam a shot. If I do well enough, I can skip the last discussion question, because I really don't want to watch that whole video. I've seen it before, but don't remember enough detail to provide examples as the question asks. I'm just totally ready to check out, only have to finish prepping for the FIN 701 Exam 4 after this.

quote:If you can muster it (and need a higher than average grade on the exam), I highly recommend reading the chapter. I only skimmed it, but saw where several exams question came from when reading it in a little more detail to get topics for my discussion forum. His exams definitely assume you are familiar with the book over just the powerpoint slides. I know that should be obvious by now, but it still doesn't irritate me any less.

Regardless, I am now done with the whole program. No matter what I get on discussion question 10, I'll have an 'A' in the class. I'm very happy to be done (as are my kids). I just wish I could have completed it on a more engaging course.

Congrats DD, quite the achievement.
