Dogs in pick up law...

I'm glad Jindal vetoed it and I'm glad for the reason he gave... it's govt as nanny state.
Driving your dog in the back of a pick up on an interstate is not a good idea. But weighing 400 pounds is not a good idea and it's not illegal.
I've known lazy low life hunters who use the culling technique for teaching dogs to follow trails. They bring the litter out to the field to hunt with no training. The ones who follow live. The ones who don't get shot in the head and left for the buzzards.
The decision to ride your dog in a truck is not the business of govt.

I know this is not the point of your post, but as much as I have loved my dogs this makes me sick.

Its especially not a good idea for the person who gets killed when your dog jumps out of the pickup bed and lands on their windshield at highway speeds.

Seriously? So you're A-OK with me not securing other property in the bed of my truck in a manner that would prevent it from flying through the air and hitting your car - or just dogs?
WTF?
You're smarter than that.

Yep, that happens with the same frequency of a killer asteroid hits the earth. I'll take my chances.

There are no laws regarding how many bungie cords you need to secure your stuff. If it flies out of your truck I sue you. Same with dogs. If your dog flies out hits me I sue. No need for more tickets for cops to write.

Do you ever leave your house?
From reading your posts, you have to be the most miserable person I've ever come across.

How stupid do you think dogs are?

How many crashes were caused in the last five years due to a dog jumping or falling out of the back of a truck?

a mattress doesn't have the ability to decide "Hey...maybe it won't be a good idea to jump out of this moving truck"

I don't think this will ever be asked of you.
If we banned all loads not inspected for safety we could really help stop accidents.
Or are you not for saving lives and property?
Well?

Cockfighting birds meet kind of the same fate. Say you got three roosters that are brothers fighting different roosters in a match. If your first rooster runs when attacked, odds are very high that the other two will also. Of course when a bird runs he immediately gets his head wrung by the handler. A lot of times the other two brothers will get theirs wrung also without ever getting in the pit.
Nothing worse to a cockfighting handler than a chicken chicken.
