Will, talk me out of negotiating an extended warranty on the deal I am going to help with this weekend...
Also, convince me to cancel the extended on my car that I bought 2 months ago and get a refund.

The reason why I am against them is because most extended warranties are overpriced.
Take the money that you would normally fork over for an extended warranty and put it aside in a "separate emergency fund" for repairs.
Also, if you're buying certified used, I believe an extended warranty isn't necessary as often times the used certified car warranty is better than a new car warranty.

55% of people who bought an extended warranty never used it. Of the 45% who did use it, on average, they spent more on the warranty than it paid for repairs.

Thats the kind of stats I was looking for

Where exactly do you get that info?
I got it the first time because I bought a vehicle through an employee program. I kept the paperwork and take it with me to the dealership to let them know that I know about these costs.
When I bought my Camry last month, I took it with me, showed it to the dealer and he showed me the same paperwork on the vehicle I was looking at. Kept that copy too.

The holdback was available online - kbb/edmunds/truecar I don't remember exactly which. I have a friend in the biz & called him with the VIN & he looked it up to confirm & found out how long it had been on the lot. Neither of those facts did much other than confirm to the dealer that I was serious and had done my homework.

I don't want to get into too much detail, but thoughts on what to hold out for today? She fricked up by telling the salesperson she was very interested int he car.
08' w/ 48k miles... Certified (Its one of the big luxury Manufactuers)
KBB shows value between 19,700 - 21,400.
They've had the vehicle on the lot for over 30 days
Was listed at 19,900 and took it down to 18,900 two days ago
It has red leather, which is the reason I think it isn't selling... Most people don't like, but some do...
I'm thinking 20k including TT&L
Thoughts?

I was told today I was not allowed to make money on a deal because we were all rich and didn't need it.
I think it is forgotten that Dealerships are actually a business. Forgive us for trying to make money. How dare we.

18,450 would be ideal, but that price is not terrible.
See if they will do 18, then come back with 18300.

We're in the market for a 2012-2013 infiniti qx56. Is the deluxe touring option really worth the expense? Also, most dealers around Baton Rouge seem to not be willing to work much with their listed price...What's a good price for a 2013 qx56 with deluxe touring and say a tech package with about 29,000 miles?

Ended up being one hell of a clusterfrick, but in the end, used a few of the Will Cover methods and ended up getting a decent price

Coach, just curious. If a person comes in to buy a vehicle and says "I will pay $500 over dealer cost", what is your response?
I'm sure it's based on popularity of vehicle, how quickly they move in general, but is that a "fair" offer? Would you do a deal quickly on a slow moving vehicle in a scenario like that, or one you have a bunch on the lot?

No dealership is going to stay in business making $500 a vehicle.

What about saying upfront I'll give you four percent over invoice/wholesale price.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but dealerships don't make their real money on individual sales, it is on the bonuses they get for selling X amount of cars a month
I could have sworn a few years back that I was told by a family friend who was mgr of a dealership that if they hit X number of sold for that month, the dealership got a 200k kickback from the manufacturer...
ETA: And don't they make a killing on services?

500.00 over cost would be great. In my dealership...we rely on volume. As for getting the kickbacks...that's not every manufacturer. GMC, Ford, and Dodge are the main ones who receive those. We do receive them, but not that high of a payout.
