"Why would someone do drugs when they can just mow a lawn" is pretty good evidence that he's not getting the most out of life imo.

mowing a lawn IS like doing drugs to him. it relaxes him. that's all he wants out of life and he's enjoying HIS life. except watching the Cowboys

What's ironic is that you are calling out Hank Hill for being close minded, when you are in fact being pretty damn close minded right here.
Being open minded doesn't mean popping mollies and yelling "WOO", it's being able to accept that people enjoy different things to be happy in life and let them do that as you do whatever makes you happy.

Different strokes for different folks.
Hank is legitimately happy mowing grass, drinking beer, selling propane, and being a family man.
The guy does a ton of good and doesn't hurt anyone.
I don't see why you'd disagree with that.
What makes you happy may not make him happy, and vice versa.
