Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) was on the committee which reviewed a possible trade of prisoners for Bergdahl a few years back.

The classified file given to the Senators about Bergdahl did NOT include the information about the note Berghdal left to his unit about his intent to desert. Chambliss found out about this from the NY Times article after his release.

It sounds like either the Army was trying to cover up his desertion or the Obama administration pulled that piece of info from the file. And the latter seems VERY likely given that they were gung-ho to make the exchange.

A soldier who participated in the search for Bergdahl has done an interview with Fox News where he talked about how the military instructed them to lie about the circumstances behind Bergdahl's capture.

He also indicated that the quality of ambushes by the enemy increased after Bergdahl's capture, which he feels was due to the intel they got out of him.

Bergdahl has turned into Sgt. William "The Old Shoe" Schumann for this administration.
