Excellent article in the New Yorker to ponder.

Think global warming, pesticide dangers, ACA benefits, even film tax credit benefits.
We have lost the ability of critical thinking it seems.

Think Jesus and Allah and feng shui.

Because science is never wrong.

Yeah science surely is a candle in the dark. One day coffee is good for you, the next it's not. One day butter is bad for you, another it's not. One generation frontal lobotomies and giving kids heroin and cocaine is good, the next, not........ Got to love it!

Did republicans ever have this? You have to have possess something to lose it right?

That's not science...that's reporting on science.
Science is self correcting.
Asimov's The Relativity of Wrong
When you say things like the above, you sound idiotic. We live in an age made possible by scientific breakthroughs. To pretend that science is not reliable because it's never 100% correct is absurd.

With this hackish statement, you prove that you yourself lack critical thinking skills.
And you don't even realize it.

I love how democrats assume republicans are anti-science. Just because you can explain something through science doesn't mean God didn't create it. This has always been my biggest beef with atheists in general. Just because parts of the universe can be explained/understood/comprehended by humanity doesn't mean God didn't create it.

Because government run schools have a vested intrest in teaching "what" to think instead of "how" to think.
Because of that, we get a society full of idiots who believe that it's wise to let the biggest debtor in human history (the US) "invest" even more of our money.

Ironically, the folks who resist such overreactions are called haters of science. Go figure.

we never had it.
And honestly religion is probably tops on the list of believing things that aren't true.
and I am not sure where you got global warming, pesiticide and ACA from that. IT was about vaccinations.

Its amazing how a man (Sagan) who only has qualifications in astronomy can also function as Rex's religious icon. Not a Sagan fan because he, like a good snake oil salesman, laughably held himself out to be a preeminent scientist and remained largley unchallenged.... since those who don’t believe his dogmas have much less access to the media than he did. If he was called out with effective arguments, he made sure very few of his large, gullible audience woud ever hear about it.”

Absolutely agree.

However, to place equal faith in all scientists, scientific research, or even entire disciplines is likewise absurd.

Yet scientists are quick to assert that the current conclusions are totally correct. Scientists do tend to have this god like opinion of themselves.

So doctors who prescribed frontal lobotomies for patients or gave opiates to small children weren't part of the scientific field? And nutritionist don't use science to come up with their recommendations? And astronomers who once thought the earth was flat or that the sun revolved around the earth weren't part of science?
