You don't really know how many empty threats are received at any given time. I don't either, but I tend to believe it's a lot.

I'm talking about that building that wasnt hit or on fire

Most of the 'conspiracies' are probably due to the fact that hindsight is 20/20. I'm fairly confident that there was advanced, detailed warning of the 9/11 attacks that would seem like huge news if it were released. At the time however, it probably was just lost in the shuffle. Kinda like if I called BRPD and told them someone was gonna get shot in north BR today, then tried to make it into a conspiracy later.
Valid point, except the people warning America about this specific terrorist attack were people like Putin, Hosni Mubarak, and other world leaders. Not some anonymous tip.

Also, there was a story (obviously don't know if it's true) of OBL being visited by US agents while hospitalized in Dubai a few months prior to 9/11.

I don't claim to know the truth behind the Kennedy assassination but I believe the warren commission was horse shite and few, if any, know exactly what happened. I believe the mafia was behind the whole thing.
ETA: Sorry didn't mean to go off topic. This is only a 9/11 thread.

Yeah the Warren Commission was a travesty. I don't think the official story and the real story are as far apart in 9/11 and the killing of OBL as they are in Kennedy, though.

It's ok. I'm always kind of wary of watching documentaries airing on a government-run network.
PBS isn't government run.

It's not? Isn't it government funded?

FDR knew of Pearl Harbor was a target, thats why the military moved the Aircraft Carriers prior to the attack.
That being said, wouldnt surprise me that the Bush administration knew of 9/11 before hand.

I get that, but how specific could they have possibly been? Naming a specific airport is something that would take detailed knowledge, but still not even be that big of a hint. Hundreds of planes come through any given airport in a day, and who could have even definitively given a specific month?

Part of its funding is from the government, but the majority of its funding comes from donations and corporate sponsorships.
Oil companies receive subsidies from the government. That doesn't make them government run companies.

Read "Ghost Wars" and "Charlie Wilson's War", if you haven't already. You'll probably find them interesting and informative.
Regarding CIA operations against the Soviets in Afghanistan:
Under the agreement the CIA made with Pakistan, all funding, weapons and supplies were to be funneled through ISI (Inter Services Intelligence, Pakistan's
version of the CIA) and the CIA were prohibited from operating independently in Afghanistan. Any weapons or tactics training provided by the US to the mujahideen was to be overseen by the ISI and conducted in the Peshawar tribal region of Pakistan. Pakistan decided which muj warlords, typically ethnic Pashtuns, received support and in what quantities. This is how guys like Hekmaytar and Haqquani built of huge arsenals and had tons of supplies, while others of different ethnicities, like Masood, received little or nothing in the way of support. This also played heavily into the problem of tracking down unused Stinger AA missiles after the Soviets pulled out. The ISI distributed them to their preferred warlords and the CIA had to just trust them, even though they knew that neither the ISI or the muj were completely trustworthy.

The British gave us two separate reports about terrorists using commercial airlines as attackers.
From what I read, Egyptian Intelligence gave the U.S. info saying that "20 al qaeda operatives slipped into the U.S. and that four are training in Cessnas".
According to the Loose Change documentary, our government was running drills on a hijacked airliner.
I believe they either flat out knew, or are more incompetent than what anyone could believe.

I've actually never read Charlie Wilson's War, though I have read other books about CIA ops in Afghanistan during the period. Ghost Wars is one of my favorites, as is The Looming Tower.
Another good one many haven't read is Inside the Jihad, which is a story about an agent run by multiple EU intelligence agencies. Nobody knows if it is true, but it is really interesting nonetheless.

The row about whether the September 11 attacks could have been averted has begun to focus on the US attorney general, who is accused of playing down the terrorist threat in the first months of the Bush administration.
Nevertheless, he began using a chartered private jet to travel around the country, rather than take commercial airliners as Ms Reno had done. A justice department spokesman said this was done as a result of an FBI "threat assessment" on Mr Ashcroft, but insisted that the assessment was not specifically linked to al-Qaida.
But Mr Ashcroft stopped using commercial flights in July (2001), just as the intelligence "chatter" about a possible al-Qaida strike on US soil was getting louder.

If anyone watches this video without at the very least having some serious questions about the official 9/11 story, then I can't take you seriously.
No need to have questions because everyone knows that no one in our government would ever do anything bad, and if they were to go rouge and do a bad thing, there is absolutely no way they would involve someone else.

There was that thing about that building collapsing when it maybe shouldn't have

The NIST gives a description of how certain parts of the building failed, which lead to complete collapse.
