I'm thinking this as well. If they had taken their time and planned this out better it wouldn't be spurting. they took a decent idea but rushed with it out of anger and now it has fallen apart.

The SG leadership certainly has made mistakes, and maybe not discussing things over with the mall owners, GGP, is one of them.

But as far as taking their time, they started the petition drive in September of 2013, and the powers that be in the legislature are trying to make them finish their efforts by late July; how much more time could they have taken?

IMHO, SG underestimated the speed and ferocity at which Holden and the City Hall gang came back at them. In these short 8 months look at the offensive Holden & Co. have mounted. It is really something behold and it shows you just how much political clout Holden has.

They can't fix a two lane bridge at White Oak Landing in a year and a half, but when it comes to politics they are second to none.
