Targeting 2015 is the best option we have. But if we aren't able to move Gordon before the 2015 offseason, we better not pick up longterm contracts on the wayside.
It's a good idea to keep multiple doors open. Always have a viable plan B. If we sign too many lower to mid tier players on extended contracts, we lose flexibility down the road.
If we are forced to keep Gordon until his contract expires, inking a four year MLE contract this summer results in a huge loss of flexibility. With a four year MLE contract, Rivers, and our 2015 1st rounder's salary all on the books, plus the minimum roster holds, we easily lose the ability to chase high dollar players in 2016.
