I have one, its awesome. Except that I switched to uverse and I cant figure out how to connect it so therefore its collecting dust.
You need the device's IP address and to forward incoming connections through whatever port Slingbox uses (google it...should be easy to find) to that IP address. Even if that sounds tough, it's a 10 minute job, including the reading you'll have to do to learn the port you need to forward, Uverse's website for how to use port forwarding, and identifying what IP your box is using.

Slingbox is well worth it. Its one of those things that you may only use once a month but when you do you are glad you have it.
I waited until one of the older units went up on Woot for cheap and pulled the trigger. Use it all the time...most of the time I use it for Saints games when I'm stuck at work or coming back from a trip/LSU away game, but we also use it a lot when we're stuck at my in-law's house with nothing to do to catch up on our DVR.

Yes its great for watching HD tv from home
Also depends how good your download speed is and how good their upload is.
I have 100 meg fiber and my dad's upload is around 16 to 20 meg on his fiber so its clear HD and I hardline everything and my desktop here has HDMI.
