re: Those Ugly Toe/Barefoot Shoes

you get PF from stretching your arches, so if you get these, and you start walking more on your front foot, it will only worsen the PF
I've ran in VFFs for almost 6 years now. I still like them, but I agree with the other poster that you can get the same thing without having the individual toe slot
There are plenty of zero drop shoes on the market these days like NB Minimus and Merrel Glove

Basically the same benefit but they look like regular shoes.
Gotcha. Maybe I'll go someplace where I can try different ones on.

go with this. All the benefits of zero drop "barefoot" shoes, no dumb toes

If you want help w/ your plantar fasciitis, the only things that I have found to help are orthotic inserts, compression sleeves, and lots of stretching.

or perhaps try Toms? They are flat with zero drop...
It is why I love them so much.

I don't know, guys, but I'm going to go try some on, I guess.
Like I said, my pain isn't that bad. I just don't want it to become debilitating in the future. I haven't had it diagnosed, but I'm about 98% sure that it is PF. I'll try out some of these shoes for a while and see what happens. If it gets worse, and stays that way, I'll go back to regular shoes.

but I was being serious
if he doesn't want an athletic type of shoe, Toms would be the best thing

Does the arch of your foot hurt like hell when you get out of bed in the morning?

Yep

then it is PF
I had it for awhile, my only cure was to stop running and it eventually went away after about a month

I am seriously considering trying this place to get some custom orthotics molded for my feet. I know a "friend of a friend" that works here in Lafayette and swears this will help me out tremendously. Maybe it could help you too.

Barefoot is where it is at. Once you get em conditioned those pains caused by shoes just go away. Do these feet look like they have any trouble?
Posted on 4/24/14 at 1:17 pm to tigerfoot
It really is amazing how much stronger my feet became when I started running in VFFs/barefoot
My feet became like hands they were so flexible and strong. I could easily pick shite up with them.
Some people have even dropped shoe size by 2 or 3 sizes.

yeah mine wasn't a bad case
I developed it by doing too many hill sprints in my VFFs
I would only get bothered by it in the mornings or if I ran slow. I could still run fast pain free.

I wear some innov8 with almost no drop. I will say that I have noticed an amazingly bony foot when I wear them to work out in. I am too heavy for my own good, and when I run more than a mile or so in them I can just feel the impact too much, even striking more mid foot. I switched back to nimbus and also went right back to shin issues.

Those feet have some miles on them.
