I was being dramatic to strengthen my point but
sounds way cooler than

mentally create, control and manipulate pure kinetic energy to his every whim and desire
sounds way cooler than

flicks magic cards

Gambit will never be portrayed good enough to us.
Hell we grew up with the accent all around us. Even the little variations between NO/Acadian accents. It would be tough as hell to appease that portion of it.

Kitsch has been in Lone Survivor, Savages, and John Carter recently.
Doing well for himself. He was perfect, but if we have to move on, I'd rather a no namer with some acting chops.

That is quite possibly the worst description of Gambit I've ever heard.
Not really. Perhaps using "magic cards" is inaccurate, since he charges them with kinetic energy, but his powers are, for the most part, typically confined to charging inanimate objects by touch and fighting using a bo. Of course, there's the whole New Son arc wherein Gambit reaches his full potential and combats an alternate version of himself that is so powerful it has destroyed planets, but for the most part, Gambit has to charge by touch and fights with a bo.

Thought Kitsch did a good job as Gambit. And I don't think Tatum will have any problem with the accent. I've read somewhere that his dad is from the NOLA area and Tatum lived in south Mississippi during his elementary school days and would spend some summers at his grandparents in NOLA. I think he also owns a bar in NOLA.
As long as they don't play on his potential cheese factor, he should do well.

That was the issue with the last iteration. Gambit has some cheesy one-liners and all, but they beat that horse to death in the last flick.

I really don't hate him as an actor, FWIW.
Glad he loves NOLA so much too.

Edit: I was just starting to like Channing Tatum since he started doing comedic roles. If he ruins Gambit for me, we can never be friends.
That's why this:

Plus, because Gambit is so iconic, I'd rather them take a shot at Cannonball, Psylocke, Karma or Forge.
Gambit can be ruined as a character, and this team hasn't looked spot on with their interpretations.

I believe Kitsch actually signed a three movie contract. They have had to buy him out.

I still want to see a badass version of Rogue where she can fly and shite.

Rogue is in my top 5 X-Men, easily. And her character has been shat on completely. I mean she WAS the plot focus on X-Men 1 and then...nothing.
Next to Cyclops, the neutering of Rogue is probably my number 2 issue with Singer.

I agree with the Rogue statement but Cyclops is pretty spot on in the movies.
