His "wife" is in in on it and the fact that she "would never be suspected" is key.
Just re-watched it and she never takes a sip of her wine or his cup. Her cup stays full. So maybe she's aware of the plot.

Joffey face after eating the first forkfull of pie isnt pretty...he almost grimaces as he chews it. I think its the pie, but they took several other slices to the head table also, other people would have fell out and died.
So confusing
Considering so much respect has to be given to the King, maybe everyone has to wait (out of respect) for him to take a bite of his own wedding cake before they can dig in.
I personally think it was the wine that was poisoned though.

If Olenna is behind it, Margaery damn well knows. Olenna wouldn't risk losing her.

Yes. Tywin was being uncharacteristically accommodating and kind (valeryan steel sword) to Joffrey. What kind of power would the husband (Loris) of the queen regent have? That could possibly be the payoff for the Tyrells.

I would assume that is off. Right?
ETA: Cersei's marrying Loras.

Who always has access to sleep medication and pain medication and maybe poisons?
Who was scolded and sent to the kitchen to reverse the wishes of the soon to be queen?
And did we see him again after the death?
Just thinking of a different angle.

Maybe not. That's why I'm asking what kind of power Loras would get. The physical evidence points to the Tyrells, but the motives don't, they need to get something out of it.

but poison is a lady's weapon.

I don't think Tywin would force Cersei to marry Loras.
Tywin will be hand, and Cersei will be Queen Regent until Tommen takes over at what age? 16? 18?
He is 12 now.

I'll be kinda pissed if it's a red herring

yeah, Tywin hates his kids and grandkids (especially because he knows they aren't true heirs).

By all accounts, that's not true.
Tommen is much more level headed and likes Tyrion.
But who knows, he's only 12.

That would be some bullshite.
I hate watching the "previously on Game of Thrones" because it brings up characters out of the blue that are obviously going to be important going forward. I guess we do need to be reminded who the fool was since it seemed a bit unimportant at the time.
But I like to go in fresh.

So when he cut the pie open he killed some of the doves?
