I always love these "I'm a bigger fan cause I chose them at this time for these reasons rah rah" arguments. The guy's just looking for a team and didn't ask for a pissing contest.

To OP - English premier league I'm sure will be easiest since it's more available on TV, but there is good football in other leagues (Germany, Italy, Spain) that is available if you're willing to look for it.

With that said, I think your best bet is to just start to watch some games, see if certain teams catch your attention beit through style of play, fan support/atmosphere, certain players, whatever. Then you can always look into more specifics on each team on the internet and all that.

The World Cup isn't bad to check out too to see players from all over the world that might catch your attention. Then from there you may want to look into their teams and check them out.

Might want google what bandwagon actually means. Unless there's some sort of phenomena of bandwagoning when a team is shite.

Not really, but yes I chose a big club to support...

That said, I wish we had been winning trophies this whole time and I wouldn't apologize for it...

I actually picked them for Michael Owen in '98... But I still didn't really follow it, then when I started watching more... I almost picked Chelsea for no other reason than my good friend owns a bar/rest by that name... But watching them, the club was full of a bunch of unlikeable mugs... So I went back to LFC and that was when Captain fantastic was at the peak of his powers... And MO would be off to Madrid

being a Liverpool fan not from Liverpool is bandwagon. Liverpool is one of the most successful teams in the world and won Europe in 2005.

You sound like a fool Liverpool has never been shite in the last 30 years. Even if they were not winning the league they were still in Europe. Stop trying to act cool and trendy by being a Liverpool fan when they have not won anything since a league cup in 2012 or europe in 2005.

Bandwagon means starting to root for a team because they are currently winning or the best team...

Nowhere does geography come in to play...

I have no issue with bandwagon, unless it changes every couple of years

This club season is almost over. I would watch the World Cup and see which players you like from there. Of course, you run the risk of a player you like getting sold, but it is a good way to maybe find a team since I can find no real reason for you to pick a specific side.

ehhhh people bandwagon the lakers, steelers, cowboys and yankees even when they are not the best team.

Liverpool has for the most part been a top 6 team in the most popular league in the world and is arguably the most successful club in that league. A Liverpool fan calling a United fan is down right hilarious almost like a Madrid fan calling a Barca fan bandwagon or vice versa.

Not this thread again.

No one should care who you picked or how you picked them as long as you stay loyal to that one team.

We're all an ocean away from our favorite club. No one's got the high road, it just makes for pissing contests.

Sounds like someone who didn't hire a logician to determine the team most appropriate for their fandom

I've followed Everton for about 7 years now. It took some time to become the diehard that I am today, but it's totally worth it once you're 'All In'.

I chose Everton partly because they aren't one of the top powerhouse clubs that many other people in The States follow. Watching Tim Cahill go beast mode off the bench against Japan in the 2006 World Cup also played a huge role in why I looked into supporting them. Tim Howard being a regular on the squad, and Landon Donovan joining for a short time on loan were just added bonuses.

Also, the history of the club is absolutely incredible. Think Detroit Tigers or Cincinnati Reds. One of the most historic clubs, but were essentially passed up as time went on, but we're still always a competitive side.

Other teams you may want to give a fair shake:

Leicester City (Up and comer)
Southampton (Young, energetic squad)
Tottenham (I dislike them, but it's a good side to follow)
West Ham (Crazy fricking fans, they're famous because of it)

Apparently there is, there is a whole legion of Liverpool fans who supposedly chose them when they sucked.

It was just a total coincidence they happened to be, historically, one of the biggest clubs in England and Europe.
