that you can just do anything you want whenever you want
which, may be technically true, it's no where near what you imagine it to be

My definition of "a lot of money."

that adults know what they are talking about most of the time
I thought as a kid that all this knowledge just comes to you as an adult, but then you realize that that adults were just full of BS once you become an adult

Young adults. College kids think they deserve great jobs with great pay. The reality is quite the opposite.

That's not really a misconception. You pick a good major, work hard, get good grades, and you can expect that.
ETA: I guess it depends what you consider 'great' pay.

I thought I would be buying everything name brand, getting the nicest stuff, etc. Then I realized all the bills I have to pay and I'm more worried about filling my 401k than buying a jetski or something ridiculous like that.

I thought the process of busting a nut consisted of literally losing a nut. Big sigh of relief when that got straightened out

I thought when I graduated college, the party was on. Little did I know, the party was over!

I guarantee most kids first job graduating college is much less than they were expecting
obviously there will be exceptions, especially in O&G

Not being able to comprehend that as an adult you are responsible for everything. And no more summers.

Not sure if this is on point, or is a way to word the answer, but anyway, I distinctly remember my parents laughing their asses off at me when, after working a month or so at my first "real" job, I made the comment "damn, I now know why older folks got so pumped over Friday's."
