In modern day football, no team will have just 1 guy that gets every carry. But when we have a RB clearly ahead of the rest, like Hill, Hester, and Ridley, Les features them.
Charles Scott in 2008 as well.
If you are good enough you'll get plenty of touches

Magee and Hilliard are done after this season. That leaves Fournette, D. Williams, Brossette and possibly Guice ahead of him if he commits for 2016. Not too bad of a depth chart numbers wise. Fournette and Williams would be in their 3rd season with White a true freshman. Possibly only 2 other backs to compete with for playing time in his 2nd season if both Juniors opt for the draft. Depth chart seems pretty favorable there!

Hell, ideal RB path to NFL might be redshirt, two playing years then draft.

I've thought about that as well. It's really helps keep guys from wearing down.

based on what?

does that really matter though? Sounds like it makes sense, but does it really help? At some point everyone is going to wear down. Father time is undefeated, but is there any kind of evidence that guys that got fewer carries in college last longer? I can think of several guys that got tons of carries in college that lasted a long time in the pros. Besides superstars like Peterson or Tomlinson, Kevin Faulk was a 4 year college starter and played 15 years in the league. Meanwhile part of the reason Ronnie Brown went over Williams was supposedly less wear and tear and yet he was pretty much hurt and didn't last as long as others.

Ronnie Brown is in his 10th season in the NFL.

Interesting subject. With the exception of Frank Gore, looks like he outlasted the others.

well you got me, poor choice of words on my part, I didn't realize Brown was still in the league
He's only gotten 40 carries the last 3 years though and has 400 fewer NFL carries than Benson. Brown also missed games in each of his first 3 years and only played in 7 in year 3. If the theory that less wear and tear in college helps, why did he miss 9 games in his 3rd season? Seems like his early career was marked by injuries which fewer carries is supposed to avoid.
By contrast, Steven Jackson was drafted the year before Brown and was in the league last year. He had 743 carries in college (over 300 each his Soph and Jr seasons) he was a 1000 yd rusher with 257 carries in 2012 and even last year at age 30 had 157 carries. He was way more effective and for a much longer period than Brown. despite more college attempts.

I wasn't arguing either way. I just remembered that Brown was still playing. I didn't realize that it was only he and Gore still in the league. I think Brown is still playing b/c he is a dependable, versatile back. If your #1 RB or APB goes down, he can sub for both. He protects the ball and pass blocks well.

I was really defending the coaching staff. But also keeping it real with the kid if he wanted to carry the load like say Wisconsin or B.C. I would love to have kid in purple and gold but hate to have them be disappointed that they are not the main guy.
Dude, this is an LSU recruiting board. Did you really just post that if a kid wanted to be the main guy maybe Wisconsin or B.C. would be a better choice?
How about you go "keep it real" someplace else. Like anyplace else.

Didn't White originally give his verbal to us then pulled it back?
Posted on 3/31/14 at 9:00 am to Nissanmaxima
According to Rivals we have a commit for 2106. Now Les is doing work.
I know its a misprint. But funny. Its I assume an offer not a commit.

No. The only recruit I remember pulling back was the Lewis kid from East St. John.
Posted on 4/17/14 at 3:37 pm to LSUTIGER#1fan
In a recent Rivals interview he says his target date for committing is the end of this summer. Said he is currently running track and is running 10.6 in 100m and 22.3 in 200m at 6-2 230lbs.

The prospect that Barton Simmons forgot but won't admit it.
