Malaysian/Chinese hate the Malay/Muslims. You got a plane full of the former and a pilot of the latter. Makes sense.

AQ is a sworn enemy of the non-fundamentalist Muslim way of life. That could easily include China and Malaysia (which has decent religious diversity even with a state religion of Islam).
