I actually kno a fair number of friends who have done this. It seems to be picking up steam among new grads and ppl less than 5 years out of school. Personally I wouldn't but they seem to enjoy not working.

I think it may have to do with my generation

I've done it but had enough money in my frick You account. Took 6 months off and got a new job. Two years after telling the company F Off they paid me 4X my old salary as 1099 independent contractor.

As someone that reviews resumes a lot, gaps in employment are not recommended.

I'd work for free for a few months before having gaps on my resume.
