Lets talk LED TV's

I'm in the market for a new TV, 60"+, LED, smart TV. The one thing I dread is trying to pick a TV. I need to TV aficionados to lend a hand. I'm typically a Samsung guy, however I do own a vizio and LG that are in the kids/playroom, but this TV is going in a room where I watch the most TV so I'd like something with decent picture.
Any deals out there right now? The Ot's top picks?

Samsung 55" or 60" and it ain't even close. The other brands can't come compare.
If you want to save a little money see the price of the 55" vs the 60". I think the 55" has a touch better picture than the 60".

Where should I begin to look? Best Buy? Amazon?

This isn't necessarily true. Samsung is a great brand, but there are many that are just as good.
I personally have an 80" Sharp and love it. It's a beast so you need to have the wall space and distance, but I love it.
I had only owned Sony's and Samsung's before getting the Sharp, but I read great reviews and pulled the trigger. Great TV. Here is my setup with this TV:

Look at Best Buy but don't buy there. Once you find a TV you like, get on eBay and find a reputable dealer with excellent feedback and return/damage in shipping policies. I like to even call them and talk to them if I can. I have bought my last few TV's this way and saved a ton of money. Usually free shipping and no tax.

I have the Sharp Aquos 80 also, and it is incredible. The HD picture clarity is amazing - you'd expect to give up a little picture quality for such a large screen, but the picture is so clear that it takes a few weeks to get used to it. It just looks weird at first. And the smaller Sharps can be had at very low prices.

OP asked for a smart TV. Not sure those are smart tv's.
I have owned a Sony, Samsung, Sharp, and a Vizio. All are good brands, but I found Samsung to be by far the best in terms of quality, price, picture, and Smart Features.
And yes I know any TV can be made "smart" but that isn't what the OP asked for.

I bought it in November of 2011 when it just came out (I'm an early adopter and this was the first 80" LED that was available to the general public).
I paid $4,600 on eBay and the MSRP at the time was well over 5 grand.
Here is a newer model on Amazon for $3,799. I highly recommend it. Here is a link:

They are all smart TV's. Netflix, Vudu, etc. all available. I never use it as I just use my PS4 or PS3 for streaming content.

I would say don't waste your money on a Smart TV. The features you gain are readily available much cheaper. You can get a quality screen for maybe $500 less without the smart functionality, then add an Apple TV for $99 and get all the same features. Or you can do a Roku for even less, maybe you already have a Blu-Ray that has the features as well.

I have a sharp as well, and I wouldn't look anywhere else for my next TV.

Any decent TV he is looking to buy these days in the 60" plus range will be a Smart TV. That is just how they all come now. Smaller TV's are a different story...

i agree with this 100%, however i think almost every tv 60 inches and larger is a smart tv these days
